I've got 2... I got to have dinner with Randy Couture on the eve of his first fight against Chuck Lidell (in which Randy won) and it was great. This was before the sport was huge so not that many people knew who he was. One interesting thing about that was when we were walking through the Hard Rock, Vitor Belfort game up to Randy and was asking him for advice. He was actually kind of shy and unsure about going up to Randy but Randy gave him some nice tips right there in the hallway of the Hard Rock. Was pretty cool, not very many people knew who these guys were. The second was just last week. I got to meet Nate Diaz at the Open Workouts when he was done. Walking through the hals, he was very friendly and taking pictures with anyone who wanted etc. Awesome dude. |

melendez -mmavixen -melendez -mmavixen - Junior is one of the nicest men I've ever met, period. I said to him "Oh you have a ton of fans in Miami." And he goes "really, so you think that non-Brazilains root for me?" And I was like "Junior, you have no idea. Everyone loves you." It took me aback that he doesn't know how loved he is. Oh, and I have another funny one. I was in the elevator in Vegas wearing a Hendo shirt and Bisping and his son got in. His little boy was staring at my shirt. I thought to myself "All I need is someone to come in and say soemthing about the Bisping/Hendo and this will be really embarrassing." Well. sure as rain a guy comes in to the elevator and is like "Damn, I love Hendo, Man, when he knocked out Bisping, that was staright up insane." And I'm thinking "You jerk, he's next to us" The elevator was packed ad he didn't notice." Bisping was grinning. He was a good sport. |

Fedor was very quiet, very low key. Before and after his exhibition bout with Mousasi, he pretty much sat by himself in the venue's basement (which doubled as the dressing room). He seemed so hesitant to mingle that I felt terrible asking him for a picture, so I didn't. So I was surprised when he showed up at the restaurant with his translator. He left the restaurant solo to head back to his room and I left a couple of seconds after him, so I was following him to the elevator, through the hotel lobby and shit just thinking "holy shit nobody knows who this is or what he's capable of". |

mmavixen -melendez -mmavixen -melendez -mmavixen - Yes, thats the guy. But I met her in December of last year, long before the Hotel Kung Fun practice incident they had. She was really nice which I am sure is hard for a person in her status because you get a lot of creepers n shit like that. The guy was seriuosly not happy with me for asking for a pic and I mean, who can blame him? Here he is...wining and dining a beautiful, successful young woman in and upscale classy joint like the Panda Express...driving her around in her brand new Range...and some little Puerto Rican bastard in an Irish newsboy hat tries to come along and steal his lady. I deserved his icy glares indeed. Brittney I met at UFC ummm whatever the last one in Philadelphia was like a week after I got back from Afghanistan. She was there with Rumble Johnson signing autos right before the event. I remember her being gorgeous in person, although she was in normal clothes and not made up much at all. When I saw Rumble i was like Jesus H. Christ how in the hell does this guy fight at 170 or 185 or 1-ANYTHING? He was huge. He took a pic with my little bro who is 12..when we walked off my bro said "man i cant believe I met Rampage!" Much to learn that one...much to learn. |

It would have been funny if some idiot had tried him or clowned him on his denim outfit....LOL |

Ran into a sharply-dressed Matt Riddle at UFC 113 in Montreal. He was standing at the beer counter and offered to let me and my buddy in front of him. At the time, we didn't know who he was since we didn't watch tuf but we started talking and joking around with him and his buddy. It wasn't until much later in the conversation that he told us he was a UFC fighter. We thought he was bullshitting us so he proceeded to take out his wallet and pull out a ufc collector's card with him on it. We ended up exchanging numbers and paying him and his buddy a beer. Super cool dude.

melendez -mmavixen -melendez -mmavixen -melendez -mmavixen - Awesome, awesome stories. I've met Rumble in person and he is beyond huge. How he ever even attempted to make 170 is beyond me. I remember talking to Charlie Brenneman and we were laughing because he said that when he went into the Octagon with Rumble he was like "Oh my god, this guy is a monster. This isn't fair." LOL |

I guess im an asshole because I would have totally asked him for a pic. id probably piss myself if I were walking down the street seeing a guy in a canadian tuxedo (denim head to toe) and when he got closer noticing "holy hell thats Fedor" Don't know if Ill ever get the chance to meet the guy but I sure do hope so. Im not flying alll the way to Story Oskol to do it though. |

UFC 84. My wife and I flew to Vegas to see Wanderlei and BJ. Still IMO the most talented card to date. BJ, Sherk, Wanderlei, Thiago Silva, Tito, Machida and Carwins debut. Anways after the BJ fight me and my wife are lounging around the excalibur when I notice Regan, Troy, and Rudy about 10 feet from me. I had taken a seminar with BJ and Regan about 2 years prior when they came to Toronto so I went up and introduced myself to Regan, told him I was fighting amatuer, we flew from TO to watch his brother and wanderlei fight and that I attended their seminar when they came to TO. Instantly lets his guard down and he starts showing me some stuff BJ was working on in training and somehow we end up play wrestling right on the casino floor. We probably had both had a little too much to drink and while we were wrestling my wife is looking around to make sure security isnt going to come and tackle us! My wife then forces me to hold her drink while she snaps a pick!
Another time me and my buddy ate dinner with carlos newton and Hendo at a freedom fight event in Montreal. My buddy is good friends with one of Carlos's training partners. That was right after Hendo won the WW GP in pride. Carlos is a very intelligent dude and throughout dinner we didnt talk fighting once. |

melendez -Deuce77 - Toyota Center Houston: I was wearing a football jersey and approached Renzo Gracie. He said something like, "oh, football player I take you down" and proceeded to pretend to take me down. Cool shit. Really fucking cool guy. |

Joe Lauzon was cornering one of his guys in Montreal - I think I was taking pictures for the event, I forget which one (I have a terrible memory, can't remember what I had for lunch) - and I see him entering the venue with his team. "Hey Creepy Joe!" I say, kind of not very loudly, cause I don't like bothering people (or being seen). he goes "what ?" and I think it wasn't even obvious that it was me who said it, so I said nothing. there was muttering within his team, and we went through different doors. |

melendez -mmavixen -melendez -mmavixen -melendez -mmavixen -melendez -mmavixen - Melendez -your stories are awesome. I am sitting here laughing at the way you tell them. If you have more, please share. Oh, I have another one. I was talking to Hector Lombard after a UFC event. He and I have friends in common and we're obviously both Cuban. Well, I think he's an extremely nice guy. We were standing tehre talking and this d-bag bumps into him. The guy looked like "The Situation." And Hecotr just kinda shrugged it off. And it was one of those where I was thinking "this guy could kill you, badly." I used to have that pic with hector as my profile pic so I think a lot of people have seen it. If anyone wants to see it, let me know. |

melendez -PJ Benn Fan - Hendo is an awesome guy! Have met him a few times now and once I saw him come around from the signing table and take a pic mimicking the bisping KO. Very cool guy and actually fairly small in person! Regan and was awesome! |

Buddy/co-worker of mine started the "Ground 'N Pound" t-shirt company approximately forever ago and ended up meeting a ton of fighters in the process. He said Hendo was the nicest and Tim Sylvia was the biggest jerk. |

No problemo...
A while back I was in Vegas with my Ex Girlfriend. Stitch Duran walks up to her and says "hey where the hell have you been? Ive been looking all over for you. I called you...you cant pick up? Im really busy you were supposed to meet me and you were there. What happened?" I look at my ex...my ex looks at me...we both look at Stitch. She then says "excuse me but I dont even know who you are...Stitch looks at us both puzzled and then starts turning red in teh face. He looks closer at my ex (im assuming his eyesight is shit...which would be very odd considering his profession) and then starts apologizing over and over. He explained that he thought my ex was his niece and that he has been looking everywhere for her and cant find her. He was totallllly embarrassed. And here I thought that my ex had been creeping around Vegas after hours with Jacob Stitch Duran :) |
