http://www.theprovince.com/news/Winnipeg+Hortons+customers+forward+three+hours/7749448/story.html Is there anything more Canadian than a line of customers who kept paying forward an act of goodwill for three hours at a Tim Hortons in Winnipeg? Probably not. One customer started the chain at the Tim Hortons at Beaverhill Boulevard last Friday when they paid for the order of the customer behind them in the drive-thru, reported CBC News. That small act of Christmas cheer set off a chain of 228 customers who kept picking up the tab for the next customer, lasting a total of about three hours. Manager Troy Thompson said the energy was infectious among staff and customers. "They were calling out the numbers -- 'We're at 162' -- and they made a really big deal of it," he told CBC. "I think that's what helped keep it going because nobody wanted to be the one who broke that streak." The streak finally ended when one man chose not to pay for the three coffees ordered by the next person. His four coffees had been paid for by the customer ahead of him. |

What I don't get is that he was getting 4 coffees and only paying for 3... one free coffee wasn't enough for him. Probably the type of guys that would force his co-workers to pony up the $1.08 for the coffee before giving it to them. |

It's called "paying it backward." Happens about once a month at the Starbucks near my place outside Seattle. |

Something like this happened to my sister at Walmart last year. She was checking out with over $500 worth of stuff and her debit card wouldn't work at the til. She went to the ATM to get cash and when she came back the guy behind her paid for her stuff. True story. There are still good ppl out there

She actually went ATM with a random dude in the Walmart bathroom and when they were done, the stuff was magically paid for. |
