Whoever gave JDS 45 points against Cain is just as bad. The first 2 rounds were debatable 10 - 7s but no more than 10 - 8s. JDS didn't mount any sort of attack and not much defence. How can someone can score that the same as a close round. Unless he gave a 10 - 8 for the first and a 10 - 10 in one of the later rounds. |

We don't need sanctioning bodies. We are as capable of policing ourselves as the NFL, NBA and the rest of the alphabet soup. Politicians and squeamish females need sanctioning bodies. So do squeamish female politicians. But if you don't like judges' decisions, don't let the fight go to the judges. Take a risk or two to finish. Do what Joe Louis did: I bring my own referee and judges - my fists. |

Diesel67 - Well that is what I was asking earlier in the thread. Does the UFC even need the NSAC for anything? They are a billion dollar company now. Known worldwide. Why should they have to pander to the NSAC? or any other state athletic commissions? |

If we stop using sanctioning bodies MMA would be outlawed in most states. Most legislators be would oppose to supporting MMA without regulatory oversight. They are absolutely necessary, whatever the flaws. I think some fighters do get amateur ref or judging experience so they can eventually apply to be judges. But not enough.

<Most legislators be would oppose to supporting MMA without regulatory oversight.> These are the same p--sies who pass "duty to flee" laws that presume to take away a man's natural right to protect himself, his family and his property. We have to fight to get better laws passed. And the first step is to elect legislators with real balls.

"Cecil Peoples scored the bout 30-27 in favor of Varner" - this is more shocking then anyting the fact cecil peoples scored it right for once in his life. |

kano350chevy - When are the AC going to wake up and have ex fighters on the judging panel? real question is, how many ex fighters want to be judges? If im not mistaken, you get paid peanuts. Its more a "labor of love" from what ive heard. |

I was surprised by that interview. He actually called the NSAC on their shit, and he's right. It's fucking shameful to have people who are clearly incompetent (and possibly corrupt) fucking fighters over and affecting their livelihoods year after year. |

I don't know which fight Dana was watching but its not like Varner shut Guillard out. Guillard landed more power shots in my opinion, aside from guillard getting dropped in the first the only real damage Varner did was takedowns and laying on top of him. I've never been impressed by Varner, he's another cookie-cutter fighter that won't stay in the pocket. Again this is just my opinion. *yawn* ... g'night |

nomad1974 -kano350chevy - When are the AC going to wake up and have ex fighters on the judging panel? Well, hell - I'll judge the fights for basically free. Just get me plane ticket to Vegas and put me up in a decent hotel. |

WARlluminati - why would he stay in the pocket? do you understand range, footwork, timing, etc? Varner beat Guillard pretty clearly.... |

Most of the judges in mma are just boxing judged right? It should be mandatory that they have a good understanding of mma. Do they not give them any kind of classes or preparation? That would be absurd if they are just throwing pure boxing judges in there with no mma knowledge. It would be a good idea for ex fighters or trainers if they monitored it closely and made sure they have no past connection to the fighters in any way( never trained with them or fought against them etc..). But still it would be hard to avoid bias I know ricardo almeida was a big supporter of having ec fighters or people very involved in mma as judges. He even said he wanted to be one himself

Viva - That 30-26 score card for Gustafsson over Shogun was an even bigger joke. How come you never said anything about that Dana? Jesus Thiaguy, you are one creepy Shogun stalker |

She is a woman who got to judge boxing because her husband was involved with boxing. And now she's ruining MMA. And if they can her she will file a discrimination lawsuit. So they let people like her stay and be completely and willfully incompetent. How can people who know fuck all about fighting be JUDGING fighting for a living. How could I score gymnastics if I never was a gymnast nor know anything about gymnastics? |

Dana can't do anything about the NSAC. The Commission is set by the Governor of Nevada. If you live in Nevada, you could start a petition, but it's unlikely you'll make any progress against the kind of entrenched politically-connected interests you need to get one of the seats. IOW, if you get the job, the Governor owed you one. It works the same way with the DMV in most (all?) states, they are rewards for political/campaign support. As I understand it, the 5-member Commission appoints the judges. Since Kizer isn't one of the 5 (he's executive director, himself appointed by the 5), I'm not sure he even gets any say. (Note: I don't live in Nevada, and am not intimately familiar with how they do business. Maybe somebody local could fill in some details.) |

<blockquote>Viva - ^ Yeah, but zuffa is a big org. IF THEY really wanted to do something they could. They just dont care. This is just empty P.R</blockquote> What would they do?Back another candidate for Governor? How hard? What happens if their guy loses? ... they still have a casino business to run. On top of that, the connections the members have may be party-affiliated, or major state industry-affiliated, rather than tied directly to the current Governor. Seriously, what would you like to see them do? P.S. Say they do go "all in" in Nevada. Great. One state down. Now what about every other state the UFC hosts an event? Repeat the same thing everywhere? |

Last time Dana went off on NSAC and judging, Kizer brought up that Dana brings in those same shitty judges for international, no state board, fights.... Interesting point, right? Max
