Im a real boy - His physique is a reflection of an unhealthy diet. People here defending it is stupid. It's a simple question of how he eats, because obviously it doesn't effect his fighting negatively, but it is weird someone who is billed as a "cardio machine" can have such a high body fat percentage.

You can get fat eating healthy as well. Fighters eat for function, part of that function is obtaining enough calories to recover.

it's ok to acknowledge that different people around the world have different body types.
geeeez....people are so god damned p.c. that facts just go right out the window.
blacks 'generally' have more fast twitch muscles.
white 'generally' win out in the endurance and power.
mexicans 'generally' carry a bit more fat and have cement in their heads.

the are 'generalities' but are backed up in reality/science....so don't get your panties in a bunch.

Cain could change his diet and get more ripped. The laws of physics don't cease to work on him just because he's Mexican.

But would this change make him a better fighter? If not then why would he do it?

yes..he could. genetically, it's just a bit harder. especially for a heavy weight.
nothing to do with fighting ability.

Like Cormier, he is eating "the food he grew up with" on top of the protein shakes, healthy stuff, supplements, etc.

Why would it surprise you that a guy who is a 'cardio machine' is not super muscular?

Muscle needs oxygen, which saps your cardio.  Fat doesn't need anything.  It's just reserve energy storage and cushioning.  Go take a look at the physiques of marathon runners.  Most of them are don't have rippling abs or shredded deltoids.  What little muscle they do have is often covered in a layer of fat, because less muscle and more fat = less energy expenditure and more energy reserves.

Cain looks EXACTLY like what a 'cardio machine' should look like.

That's an interesting theory. More fat = more stamina.

Roy Nelson is a bit of a cardio machine too isn't he?

Obviously, there is a point of diminishing returns where lugging around the extra body mass saps your cardio, but a moderate layer of fat does not impede performance.  There is no reason for a HW who weighs well under 265 to get shredded.

I've got a natural small belly. I eat healthy and run but the only time I've had a six-pack is through very careful eating and a few skipped meals while training for a half marathon.

Being ripped is possible for everyone but the discomfort it requires would just be a distraction for Cain

I don't think being ripped and shredded would work for Cain as a HW. I could see him being more lean if he went down to 205 but he may lose his cardio edge from cutting weight.

He is onto a winning combination at HW with his cardio, speed and technique. Why worry about a little bit of extra weight around his stomach when he has wrecked everyone that he has faced in his career and is the baddest man on the planet?
