I keep seeing posters and reports of how Cain had 'completely torn' his ACL leading up to the first fight with JDS. Other than a reported rumor that sites picked up on just a little over 2 weeks ago, does anyone have any sort of source for this? I ask because the timing seems impossible. He fought JDS in November and Bigfoot Silva 6.5 months later. Meaning he was likely back in full training 4 months after. I also never heard any reports of him going into surgery (required with an ACL tear), going through rehad, etc.. There have been 2 popular athletes recently with ACL tears. GSP, who was out for over 1 year and Adrian Peterson, who was out for about 8-9 months (working with the best doctors in the world). Did Cain use some magical Mexican doctor that can completely rebuild knees, heal them up, put an athlete through rehab and have him 100% in 4 months? Also, any actual evidence? |

Enough tacos and your body will rebuild anything. |

Cain Velasquez suffered only a partial tear. Not every acl injury is a complete tear or knee blow out like what GSP suffered. "With appropriate management, most patients with a minor to moderate ACL tear (grades 1 and 2) can return to sport or normal activity within 2 – 8 weeks. Patients with a complete rupture of the ACL will frequently require surgical reconstruction followed by a lengthy rehabilitation period of 6 - 12 months or longer to gain optimum function. Patients who also have damage to other structures of the knee such as the meniscus or collateral ligaments are likely to have an extended rehabilitation period."

And as I stated on the other thread, one of the first articles I came across stated the below... So basically, no one has any evidence or source that he tore his ACL other than his camp saying so. I just find it funny how certain fighters get so much shit for stating an injury after a loss but others seem to get a pass. It's also odd how a video of him apparently injuring himself was "ramdomly" posted within the past couple weeks as "proof." "Velasquez Seemingly fought Dos Santos vs Velasquez I with a completely torn ACL and many believe this is the reason Velasquez, a wrestling standout, never took the fight to the ground where he could of had a pretty decent advantage." |

I don't think its possible for cain to be any more respectful and mature about this |

Good vid and I agree he always comes across well. I assume there will be no source as he doesn't want to talk about it and he would be the one that has the details obviously. Just wondering but I think it's clear it was not a complete tear. I'm sure he was injured leading up to the fight though, as many are. |
