Few people have yet to grasp how good AS truly is at martial arts. He is the best around...and no one is going to EVER keep him down. He's the best...around. Silva would demolish Liddel. I think people forget that Rampage ABUSED Liddel twice, total murders. Liddel made his name off of ko'ing people like Jeremy Horn, Tito, and Babalu, and Couture (all grapplers with limited striking, and Couture TRAINWRECKED him in the first fight). Keith Jardine beat him in his first fight after losing the belt to Rampage.

He beat Tiger White before getting the second fight against Couture for the belt. People forget just how weak the UFC 205 division was for many many years.

FCM - Anderson would clown Liddel on his way to a UD. Prime Liddel had a great chin.

Personally I think this notion that of the prime Chuck Liddell with an iron chin is a bit of a myth.

Not saying he had a bad chin in his prime, but it wasn't unbreakable or anything like that. Simple fact is he didn't get hit with flush shots very often in his prime.

It was when he started fighting good boxer/kickboxers who were capable of exploiting the holes in his defense that were always there that he started getting knocked out on a regular basis.

Other fighters from his era took even more punishment than he did, but you didn't see them getting knocked out left and right over the last couple years of their careers. Rampage and Dan Henderson are two good examples.

Not trying to take away from Chuck's accomplishments--he will go down as one of the all time greats. But some of his biggest fans want to try to make it seem like the main reason he lost so much towards the end was because his chin started to betray him.

And I just don't think that's the case.

This is actually a great point. His chin might've been better, but he wasn't taking massive shots in his prime, either. The shot Rashad hit him with would've knocked out an elephant, and if anything cracked his chin, that was it. He might have been able to take the shots Shogun and Franklin T/KOed him with once, but it's a hard call.
