For all of you planning to quit smoking (lame) or dip/chew (awesome) for 2013, just know it can be done. Use the supplements, it's not weak. Cold turkey works less often. Realize its a constant struggle. 1 year later I still feel I could slip and be right back at a tin/day in no time. Nicotine is no joke. Good luck. Happy New Year!

Great job, OP. People who never try tobacco are cowards. People who become addicted to using tobacco are weaklings. People who break their addictions, cold turkey, are honorable. People who start up, again, after they quit, are bigger cowards. There's no winning when you use addictive drugs like tobacco and alcohol for recreational purposes. But the world puts the shit out there and makes it look like candy, so it's understandable how people get involved with tobaccos and alcohol -terrible, terrible drugs that most people excuse as acceptable because they are legal and available. If only there was a natural substance that wasn't addictive, didn't cause health problems and was something that anyone could make for themselves.....if only...... |

I quit last year but started smoking cigars this year. But to me there is a huge difference as a cigar is like a luxury item like a fine wine, brandy, etc...Something to do on occasion...But I am so glad i don't have to spark up a butt 15 X a day. |

There is no "honor" in quitting tobacco use. WTF does quitting tobacco have to do with "honor". Posting stupid stuff is not honorable. Some people make simple things a bit too dramatic.

I quit six years ago today. I chewed Nicolette for four years. I'm a father now Nd cannot imagine my son seeing me smoke or smelling a cigarette on me. You will wish you had quit earlier when you have something to live for.

Congrats...you know, I quit habitually smoking years ago, but I will still smoke a few when I drink heavily...which is probably a couple times a month, sometimes more or less depending... I never feel like I'm gonna slip back into the habit, no matter how many I smoke during those drunken escapades. I'm just not a smoker anymore...I'm a guy who occasionally partakes while drinking.

It's been around 4 years for me. I smoked a pack a day for 17 years, mostly non-filtered. One day I realized that smoking is not something a person decides to do, it's something they're convinced to do. If cigarettes had never been invented, and today someone brought one to you and said "light that end, and suck the smoke out of this end! It's going to feel like shit and taste like dog balls at first, but it will make you a little light headed. After doing this for a while, though, that feeling wont come anymore, and instead you will only feel like shit if you DONT do it anymore! Oh yeah, it's also going to cost you $150 per month (minimum) to be pimped out by these things" it would be a very hard sell. Also, I think cold turkey is really the only way to go, and if you're going to do it then just fucking do it. Don't worry about having almost a full pack left and lying to yourself that you'll quit after this pack. That's just buying you enough time to think of the next excuse for why you can't quit yet. Congrats to all of you that have successfully dropped this shitty habit. |
