Talk about grabbing for satanic straws.

Dude. you are scared shitless.

If the kid indeed was a 'satan worshipper'

and there is a satanic outpost in his town.. this is not an unreasonable connection to make. this is not grasping for straws.

No "dude", I'm not scared. What I am is a free thinker who doesnt need to buy in to a certain mindset so I can have a social group to identify with. You arent a scholar, EY. You arent some renegade new aged Nietzsche. You're an outcast who lives in Britain, worships China because its a country you think you know well enough to fool people into thinking you live there, and hates on the US because its a country that you couldnt handle living in and ran away from. You'll grasp for anything that might help you push your views, even if its as ridiculous as the National Enquirer, because it gives you an identity on here that you think makes you popular amongst a certain crowd. Because you're so narrow minded, you cant even see how its made you the clown of the OG. An entire website, with thousands of members, laughs at you. Think about that.

Ey, the forum jester.

Just think, If there had been a Concealed Devil Carry Permit holder at the school, all of those poor souls would have been saved!

Right?

Er.. I'm a little confused.

of course crazy people exist but to think that outside influences cannot have a profound impact on people is incredibly naive and stupid

Goku is correct. You're actually one of the few guys with common sense on this board.

Some of these people are just hilarious.

But they are indicative of the mainstream. They are currently analyzing Lanza's DNA to get locate a genetic cause.

That is because everyone is in denial about these outside effects. Divorce/broken family/corrupt media/violent games/satanism/SSRI's etc.

Of course the media influences people. Advertising is a multi-billion dollar business for a reason. It influences what we want and what we want to buy.

Jumping from that to a bulls head on a dress instigates mass murder is just silly.

This is pure speculation but:

Impressionable kids see the people they look up to repping certain clothes or affiliating with certain groups they want to do the same.

People hear tupac talk about illuminati, so they look it up. Kids see or hear their favorite band, musician, actor etc affiliating, talking or singing about certain things and they want to do the same.
Some deranged kid sees his idols affiliating with a negative destructive group or religion and he wants to be part of it. I emphasize deranged cuz not all kids would be down with following that bullshit.

IMO its not that far fetched. Is it possible? I think so. Is it likely? I don't know Phone Post

The Nine Satanic Statements

1. Satan represents indulgence, instead of abstinence!

2. Satan represents vital existence, instead of spiritual pipe dreams!

3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom, instead of hypocritical self-deceit!

4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it, instead of love wasted on ingrates!

5. Satan represents vengeance, instead of turning the other cheek!

6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible, instead of concern for psychic vampires!

7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than

those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his "divine spiritual and intellectual

development", has become the most vicious animal of all!

8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional

gratification!

9. Satan has been the best friend the church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all

these years!

From the Satanic Bible

The funny thing is, while LaVey claims to be atheist, you can tell he is lying. He does believe in God and satan; he is at war with the former in the service of the latter... Phone Post

That's true, he was billed as a con artist by some people because of his circus and s&m background, but I think he was just a smart showman who knew how to market Satanism in the psychedelic, new age 60's. I do think that he had a chip on his shoulder with God though, despite the claim that Satanism is a spiritual form of Atheism.

How come whenever these conspiracy theorists post, they inevitably resort to condescension and contempt for the "ignorant masses?"

Is it just a way for them to feel superior, all of this?

It saddens me to say that I think dudes like EY would be happy if their doom n gloom predictions came true, merely so they could revel in their superior knowledge and foresight.

I fear they want these things to happen.

Are you asking about broadcasting in the US? Cuz that's primarily what I'm referring to. The medias affect is somewhat similar in Western Europe but mainly in the UK.

In the US the medias hold of the publics psyche began around the end of WW2

Around the 1950s you see the giant push of Pop Culture. Before the 50's american culture was not dictated by pop culture or consumer products. Phone Post

No not really. That's when you see the emergence but it didn't really take hold till the 50's

The idea of individuality and self expression through consumer products did start in the 20's but the depression and world wars kept it from really taking hold. America in general had more important things to deal with.
After WW2 there's a much more notable shift in the Psyche of America. It went into overdrive during the 60s and 70s Phone Post

The pattern of cultural dissemination has always been the same.  Whomever is perceived as having status sets the trend, and the mass of people follow.  Whether the person of status was the chief of the tribe, royalty and the aristocracy, the totalitarian regime, or pop cultural icons.  So really what does this "indoctrination" talk amount to?  You can certainly feel that the cultural trends being disseminated are bad, but that doesn't mean that some special, insidious kind of cultural transmission is occurring.
