alkysmurf - First off, Dana, while we disagree with particular stances you take from time to time, I think we can all agree you've done great things for this sport. One of the greatest draws to this sport is the connection you and zuffa encourage between yourselves and fighters with the fans. Very seldom can a fan of a pro sport converse with the participants they way we can.

Thank you for that.

Now, let's see Barnett back in the ufc! He is one of very few named hw's that are still in/near his prime, outside of the ufc. He is a particularly great match up for the current champ, and a solid threat to everyone in the division.

I'm on the fence with Barnett.

Pros = He is a solid HW, and would make for interesting matchups in the UFC given his style.

Cons = He has popped for roids 2x, he hasn't really beat anyone in 6+ years. (The monson win was solid)

I'm not even a huge fan. However he makes for some very interesting matchups, even tittle run possibly. And as I explained earlier in the thread, he is the last big name heavy out of the ufc. So The ufc signs him and:
1: have control of entire division
2: prevent any org from using "the man the ufc is scared of" angle to build their own hw roster

So what if he is signed:
1: he beat a low/mid tier tune up, mitrone, Kongo ect, and is on track for a tittle shot within a couple wins.
2: he loses and was never ufc caliber anyway, and "we've always gave guys a chance to put their money where their mouth is" speech from Danna.
3: he pops hot, see above

This is a total win for ufc, only snag is if josh doesn't see what's going on and that this is his only option. Phone Post
