I'm currently rated at 80%. Anyone rated at 100% that can tell me about Total Disability.

I haven't forgot. Been working a ton! I just found out my claim is almost done. Can you give some more specifics on what you are looking for exactly?

Well I'm currently at 80% , but it will most likely will be changed to 100%. Just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about spouse benefits or anything else. I've read plenty, but wanted to talk to anyone that also knows about benefits. Is this your first claim? And did you deploy?

Yes and yes. I got out in Jan of this year. I didn't know what questions you had and was going to give you a play by play of mine. It seems you are way more versed than I. I just go past the gathering evidence phase.

Ok well here's a thing that I posted on a different thread, but maybe it helps. Step 1. Go to the link and print out the form. http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/vba-21-526-are.pdf Step 2. Fill it out. Having your DD214 with you will help. Step 3. Mail out the form to the nearest VA office. Step 4. Wait. It might take 6 or more months for the VA to start working on your claim due to the large amount of vets filing claims. Also depends on what state you're in. The VA will periodically mail you a letter letting you know that they have not forgot about you and that they're still working on your claim. Step 5. The VA will mail you a list of appointments to go to. The number of appointments just depends on how many injuries you are reporting. Step 6. Go to the appointments. Step 7. Wait for your VA rating results in the mail.

Yeah, i am 80%, but paid at 100% permanent and total because of unemployability. Basicly, ur wife and children will qualify for a program called champva which is sorta like tricare but not as sweet. Some of the dr's in ur area might not be approved for treatment. U can get a disabled veterans tag that is usually dirt cheap, like a dollar depending on ur state. U will receive dental care, vision, audio, whatever. Ur children qualify for educational benefits for college and so does ur wife. I think thats pretty much all the high points. When u get ur decision in the mail, there should be a booklet along with it that will explain what all we qualify for. U can pm me to ask anything else anytime or whatever. Glad things are finally turning a corner for u.

There's a website called ebenefits.va.gov U can track ur claim process through it, but u have to sign up for it. There's a process to it but its worth it. If u have a myhealthevet account it should allow u to get an ebenefits account since u have to have ur app approved in person for it. There's also a rwally good website called hadit.com Its a really good forum with lost of explanation on the different processes for different types of claims. And they will help u alot. There are va claims raters that are members on there that u can message that can help with questions.

Also, get the DAV to be ur case rep. They have the most success. If u can get a rep that is stationed at the ur regional medical center that would be the best. This is because they r usually in close proximity to the claims office. Mccarty, do u know why the employer is giving the va a hard time? Virux, can i ask why u were denied?

I wasn't denied. I got rated at 40%. Which is bullshit because they have paperwork on the rest of stuff that needs to be put in account. So now I have to appeal it to have it go in. The great government trying to Fuck us.

Yeah...thats the way it started for me in my first marriage. Well, if u r not to fond of the va like the rest of u u can try this. There are these places called vet centers. They r a branch of the va but not tied directly to them. As long as ur dd214 has a campaign medal from Nam, OEF, OIF, u can use them. They only deal with combat veterans and 90% of the time r staffed by them. Try and locate one. There should be a list on the va website or u can google them also. But anyways, go up there with ur dd214 and tell them u want to talk with someone. They even have groups for spouses, couples, etc. After talking with them they might be able to tell u what they can do to help. And if ur wanting to get u into getting treatment with the va they can do that too. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to get that out there just in case u didnt know. Out of all the programs, i've been involved with, the vet centers r the best because they know where u r coming from.
