With Viacom owning the majority share of Bellator and the Spike/UFC beef... shit will get ugly

caposa - I see you read that article too. It was emailed to me by Animal Planet when I mentioned Rebney's name in a fund raiser I was pitching about MMA fighters standing against endangered animal poaching! In fact, now I remember not even mentioning his name, only Bellator. |

TeamRenzo4Life -MMALOGIC - when has zuffa sued a fighter over matching rights? when has a fighter ever said zuffa didnt match the offer and just suing him to keep him on the sidelines? Couture owed zuffa 2 fights... zuffa offered him fights so he could fulfill his contract. randy didnt want to fulfill his contract. Eddie fulfilled his contract. he fulfilled his fights and submitted UFC's offer so they could match it. Alvarez is even saying he'd sign with bellator if they really match. They had no intention of matching it... they just want to keep him from working as punishment. Bjorn Rebney and Sam Caplan are the biggest scum bags in MMA and need to be driven out. |

It's all about "projected" UFC income, which is based in winning, some OTN bonuses, etc... So, it really is not a simple comparison, which is what Rebney wanted, since its not comparing to fixed salaries.

Alvarez does not want to fight for Bellator, Bellator doesnt want Alvarez going to UFC. The cons outwiegh the pro's for Rebney and Bellator here. Rebney is hurting the Bellator brand by keeping a fighter in his prime on the sidelines and sets a very bad precendent for future fighters looking to sign with the company.
If Im a fighter and I see how bad Alvarez is being treated, I think I take my chances on the regional circuit than go through that bullshit. |

Matt Phillips -jimbonice -MMALOGIC -Give me a break. Let's wait and see how it works out and perhaps get the whole story. alavarez said he would sign with bellator if they really matched the offer. Bellator is just suing him as punishment because they cant or dont want to match the offer. Eddie lived up to his side of the bargain... Bellator has not. Bellashit needs to burn to the ground. |

Eddie's UFC contract could be for $0 show, and $0 win, and he would probably still make more money than he would at Bellator. |

The lawsuit has almost nothing to do with Alverez. He is a side issue for Bellator now. They will go to court, argue like lawyers do for several months, the court will decide for Alveraz and he will sign with the UFC.. having spent 18 months on the sideline. The lawsuit is a message to every other fighter under contract to Bellator.. mess with the Bull and deal with the horns. Very few of the guys under contract can afford to stand on the sidelines for months with no income. |

slamming -MMALOGIC -TeamRenzo4Life -MMALOGIC - You don't think Zuffa has the EXACT same clause in their contract? I bet you dollars to donuts they do. They only reason they don't use it is because they are the Top Dog now. There's no Affliction FC willing to pay the Tim Sylvia's of the world $800,000 a fight. |

TeamRenzo4Life -MMALOGIC - It doesn't make it less scumbaggy or acceptable even if 100 promoters do it. IMO. |

Bellator would last if they could just play nice....but like Affliction, WFA, Strikeforce, Pride, Elite XC, they will end up out of business. this is bullshit for the fighting world, Good riddance Bellator. |

TeamRenzo4Life -slamming -MMALOGIC -TeamRenzo4Life -MMALOGIC - zuffa has the same clause... they had the right to match the arlovski offer... they could have sent arlovski a bogus matching offer while keeping him on the sidelines in a legal battle for a year to fuck with him and affliction. They didnt that. they've never done the shit bellator has. they were 40 million in the hole, never once have they signed a guy, kept him on the bench, rleased him without ever giving him a fight and then sued him after he went to win some fights outside of the UFC (tyson Nam) bellashit mma has done this to tyson nam, jonathan brookins, etc... |
