His name was Grandmaster ! Ho Kwon.......he wouldn't spar with ANYONE. My instructor was cross-trained and was a beast. Kwon wouldn't do anything with him. He only showed up for belt testing. When he came in, we all had to stare down at the floor. My buddy who went there with me is now a Yamasaki brown belt. He and I started doing bjj on the side and we would roll after class. The black belts would watch us from the back, but wouldn't come near us. One day I rolled with a black belt and his bb wife. In all fareness he was much smaller, but he was belts ahead of me. First roll I caught him in a head and arm. He tapped and refused to train with me again. |

From what I understand, he was legit in TKD back in Korea. That's what I heard. |

The guy who ran this particular affiliate school was named Lincoln Oviedo. He was Honduran and was good at everything. We used to have Dan Severn and Karate Joe Lewis come to train us. True story. To get a belt under Joe Lewis, you had to spar him behind closed doors 3 rounds. Full contact, and you couldn't run. He only allowed two steps then you had to engage. No lies. Lincoln is/was a black under Joe Lewis. Anyway, this was late 90's. Lincoln sent a registered letter, to every mma school within 30 miles. An open challenge to come fight for 1k. Registered mail so they had to sign for it. We got NOT ONE reply. |
