A lot of one sides decisions/finishes and very little in the way of atmosphere/energy from the audience or fighters. I'd expected a more dynamic finale from an organization as old and storied as strike force.

Looking forward to seeing the likes of Cormier, Mousasi and Souza in the UFC, but just find myself utterly disappointed by the performances tonight.

Saving grace was the fact that Saffiedene brought it to Marquardt and made it a war, albeit a less then entertaining one. That was a brutal fucking leg on Marquardt.

Honorable mentions go to the poor commentary and utter chaos when it came to announcing. What'd everybody else think about it? Phone Post

Pretty good summary. The utter silence with Saffiedine's win was puzzling and total confirmation this org needs to die immediately. As for the commentary it wasn't so bad. However I'm still trying to figure out WTF Shamrock meant by "third wall". WTF? Seriously, WTF?

It's sad, but overall, the org was running on fumes for about two years.

Has MMA improved overall during that two years, or has having all fighters under one roof been less and less exciting?

You tell me.

No atmosphere, yup.

Apt that a striker destroyed a wrestler in the final fight though.

Also the new fan assessment is false, as I've been an MMA fan since I was eight and I'm now twenty six. If being a fan of a sport for 18 years makes you new, then sure. Phone Post

I agree with OP.

WEC last card is a way an organization should hang it up. That whole card was fireworks with the final fight being an all time great capped off with the showtime kick.

Strikeforce definitely just fizzled. Where was Mauro tonight? Phone Post

I enjoyed the card, yes there were mismatches but the produced finishes which is what SF was.

The announce team is terrible, they always have been and they were even worse tonight but I enjoyed the show.

I am happy SF is done now so we can finally see all these guys in the UFC.

As a big Barnett fan, have to say his post-fight schtick came across as a little ridiculous (more than intended) just before Cormier fighting. "RUN COWARDS!" Haha. Was entertaining though, has to be said. Hopefully they give him an in to the UFC and let him work his way up.

Jacare in the UFC is going to be incredible, can't wait to see him fight there. All his fights are great.

Overall I actually found the card a good watch. For what I was expecting (horrible mismatches in every fight) I saw some good fights. Ryan Couture didn't deserve the win, but the guy has Randy's genes for sure. Great fight.

The card would have been awesome if everyone didn't pull out with injuries! It seems that whenever a card is mediocre people forget that half the fights are filled with guys who filled in on a couple weeks notice. There were some good fights but it lacked a certain spark. Oh well, I'd much rather have all the best fighters under one roof so we see all the best match ups and if someone does get hurt they can replace them with another good fighter. Phone Post

The card went exactly as expected minus the main event. The rest of the winners looked impressive cuz that's how it was set up to be. I still enjoyed it. RIP strikeforce u will be missed Phone Post

They bitch about every event not being great enough, you hear the whines about too many fights happening.

These people have no historical perspective or appreciation for the past, therefore they cannot appreciate the present.

One of my earliest memories of this forum was almost a shared cult mentality, you had to train or at least try to train once just to get that tough experience so that you could appreciate how difficult of a sport MMA is since grappling is only a portion of the skills required.

It was a widely held belief on this forum that if you had never trained at all your opinion was meaningless.

Never before have we seen so many meaningless opinions, people whining about too many fights happening, complaining that events aren't as exciting as their first person shooter on the HDTV, nor has there ever been a greater lack of appreciation for technical saavy and how difficult fighting actually is.
What does this have to do with my perspective exactly? As you have never talked to or been granted an auto biography, my history of watching/training MMA is thus unbeknownst to you. Are you going to tell me that I should have appreciated the technicality of staring? Or that I have no right to an opinion because I haven't gotten enough shit signed by MMA fighters?

You sound like you're angry about the fact that the sport has become more popular, like a fight hipster. Enjoy the momentum that the sport has received, and deal with the opinions of others constructively. Phone Post
