Manti Teo (Notre Dame Heisman Trophy runner up) had an uplifting story where he had a monster game against highly ranked Mich St early in the season, right after finding out his grandma and long time girlfriend had died.

The narrative went all season long and money was raised to fight leukemia, what his gf died of.

Today, it comes out this girl never existed. At all. It was all fake.

I know who Te'o is. And I know of his girlfriend with cancer.

It's very hard to believe the entire notre Dame athletic dept. (and players) would go along with a hoax of this nature.

What's the reason it's believed to be "faked".

Notre dame wouldn't have to be in on it.

It's believed to be faked because the girlfriend doesn't exist and her pictures on twitter of another person who came forward and claimed the picture.

This was actually a Seinfeld joke. lol

Oh come on. They didn't cover up shit. The girl herself never said she was raped. She also had tried to kill herself 3 times before. Teo apparently got duped.

I wouldn't be so sure if Teo got duped at this point. He definitely knows the guy that most likely is behind two fake twitter accounts.

UPDATE: Statement from Notre Dame according to Notre Dame's 24/7 Recruiting Board

. "On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators."

This doesn't add up. Teo claimed that he met this girl on multiple different occasions.

His story has always been that they met after a Stanford game and now they are claiming they never met?

Nov. 28, 2009: Te'o and Kekua meet after Stanford's 45-38 victory over Notre Dame in Palo Alto, according to the South Bend Tribune: "Their stares got pleasantly tangled, then Manti Te'o extended his hand to the stranger with a warm smile and soulful eyes." Kekua, a Stanford student, swaps phone numbers with Te'o.
