I can't think of three guys who come so often to being at the top - yet consistently fall short. Granted for Bisping and Marquardt it hasn't always been in the form of title wins - but just title shots or random turns at redemption. Who else can you think of who doesn't make the most of their opportunities? |

At least Florian at least got to the title fight 3 times and Marquardt has owned championships in respectable orgs (Strikeforce and Pancrase) |

I always thought that Florian vs Edgar would've been a good fight on paper.

Most guys aren't going to be good enough to fight for the title, but many of those will be good enough to win on any given night against any other opponent. Nothing mysterious and doesn't really have anything to do with making the most of opportunities. They just aren't at the level of the very best in their divisions.
