Rampage had been 2.5 years earlier, and Fedor about 2. Come on.

And what happened after? When you look at a fighter's career, you have to look at the whole thing, not just out-of-context slices. Fact is, Lindland went down and down fast. He did not age gracefully, with slight decreases in skill/ability. He got old real quick. You could see it in the Nascimento fight, which went to decision but should have been an easy win over a middle-of-the-road, miscast welterweight.

Rankings/ratings are, by their very nature, trailing indicators of a fighter. They don't react quickly, and massively overweight current perception which often proves to have had both outsider, and historical, bias.

For his career, Lindland was a very good fighter, but not elite. When he fought Vitor, he was neither very good nor elite; he was faded.

I hope that I just did. The UFC isn't a traditional org at this point. There are no cans in the UFC. This isn't Dream, Rings or PRIDE. You can't be a gamer in the UFC, you will be swiftly thrown the fuck out.

Even though he has 2 losses to couture his 1 win would be considered impressive to me. If I recall it was for a torn eyelid though. A lot of his losses came during the time his sister disappeared. You could tell he was off. Other than that he has really only lost to the best in each respective time frame. The guy has been fighting guys in the UFC for like 15 or 16 years.
Yeah but there's another thread on here just now praising the guy for only losing to hall of fame calibre fighters.... Even though he hasn't beaten any.

He doesn't belong up there with those guys. He's NEVER been good enough yet everyone seems to just go along with the idea that he is one of the good old boys.
