Very few things irritate me more than fans trying to be "wanna be tough guys", "internet warriors", or whatever variations we have to describe these type of people... Fans are definitely entitled to give their opinion about this or that fighter, they're definitely entitled to 'think' that this guy is better than that other guy but going to the fighter's twitter and talk shit to him, which is something that they would never do to the fighter's face, it's something really embarrassing... I see people talking shit to Vitor when he calls out Chael, and vice versa, people talk shit to me, when I call out Phil Davis, and talk shit to Phil for ducking me (which is in fact true), but I don't think they realize that we ARE the fighters that WILL STEP IN THE OCTAGON to fight each other and back up all our talk, while these 'so called' fans will NOT do anything but drink their beers and eat their cheetos while WATCHING it. Once again, giving your opinion is valid, so you can talk to your friends about it, you have all the rights to go post on forums about it, or even become one of these shitty bloggers out there and write about it (there are a bunch of them), but saying shit to a fighter directly through a social media outlet, just makes you look like a HUGE VAG###

He is wrong. This happens with every sport, and EVERY celebrity, people tell musicans that songs suck, or that they played something wrong, they tell actors they did a poor job or that they should have acted a different way or played a part differently. No different with sports, baseball, football, mma, boxing, etc...You've got to take the good with the bad. You want fans? and fame and money? Well you're going to get critics and shit talkers too. Who is a bigger vag? A fan talking shit.... Or a pro athlete whining about fans.
I love Vinny, but fighters who complain about the fans come off ridiculous to me. (As does any celebrity who complaints, actors with paparazzi, etc..)

TryhardNobody - A lot of ppl have never been in a fight and have no idea what would happen to them in a fight. They live in a fantasyland where they are beating up black belts and pro fighters. If Vinny has been to BJJ school for years he should know the difference between ppl who have never been in a fight and ppl who have trained and know better. I dont know why Twitter gets to him so bad. There will always be ppl like that. I see them at the boxing gym all the time. They come in the first time and act like they afe the baddest person alive and dont show respect. Then they get beat down a few times and learn humility. Thats life. Well, these type of people you see at the boxing gym are probably in every gym in maybe the world, that adds up to a shit load of people all coming down on a fighter via twitter. |

I talk a lot of shit, so I expect people to talk shit back. But didn't i still get sensitive about something? I obviously did. Was that in my defense, no it wasn't... I'm not bothering about arguing with people anymore in my defense, once I decided to talk shit on twitter, I accepted the rules and I understand that people will talk shit back... What made me really upset that morning was when I saw on my timeline on twitter, some dude sending a tweet to Vitor making fun of his religous beliefs and also mentioning his deceased Sister in his "joke". First of, I'm not Vitor's lawyer, We're barely close friends, and I don't need to work on his defense, but I know that the death of his sister is pretty sensitive subject to him, and I don't think any human being with a minimum sense of respect should joke about such thing, specially when the guy is having a happy moment in his life. I probably shouldn't have expressed myself the way I did... But I think that person crossed the line in between being a fan and having the rights to express his opinion, to be a straigh up douchE bag piece of shit...
As for me, fuck it...say what you want, I've been hearing and reading shit for the last 4 years since TUF, I'm pretty immune to it. (reason why i still join the forums and interact with people).
Ps: As for the "they wouldn't say shit face to face", that wasn't intented in a violent way... I've never been in a street fight since I started to train BJJ (since I was 13yo) , and no reason to be in one now to ruin my career. What I meant was that people usually don't use foul language when they feel like criticizing someone face to face...Out of respect, not necessarily fear... |

Why are fighters so sensitive? I'm agreeing with Vinny so don't think I'm not. I loathe the type of guy who tweets a man he doesn't know with such nonsense. I'm just saying that fighters act like NFL players, FEMALE actresses, and such don't get similar treatment. Hell, stand up comics get this in person and on Twitter. Ever see Dane Cook finally break? You may hate Cook but that fucker has taken more shit than ANY fighter. If you can't handle the words of the guys eating Cheetos, you can't cash the check they fund. Vinny IS correct in how he feels. Just when Jennifer Lawrence of 'Hunger Games' doesn't lash out over negative press it makes you look bad considering she is likely 100 pounds.

I'm tired of fighters bowing up all puffed out acting like they are the first to deal with this in today's social media. It fucking sucks to do something you love and get assholes and trolls busting your balls anonymously on Twitter. It does. Just stop letting everyone know it gets to you as that only lets them know they got under your skin. Act like they didn't upset you. Or else you've let them get over on you. Actors and other athletes get FAR worse than UFC fighters ever do. Are they tougher? Fuck no. But stop letting them appear to be. Trolls suck but calling them names and showing emotion only fuels them.
