What would we call two #1/top contenders from different weight classes fighting each other at a catchweight? Didn't Rich Franklin have a couple fights at 195? Were those superfights? |

No way. Edgar has lost 2 in a row. No way a super fight. That said it should be a lot of fun.

Hell yea. It's a fight between 2 elite P4P guys. Not too often you get to see that. |

meth wizard - When I think of superfights I think of fighters from different weight classes or rival promotions. Its a great fight but its not superfight in my opinion. Is this fight not between fighters from two different weightclasses?

Yes. Edgar is arguably the #1 LW and Aldo is the #1 FW.

No, not a superfight. Still a great fight though. |

Yes, as much as the UFC has available. He is a former champ moving divisions to fight the current champ. Also don't forget most MMA fans think he won the rematch with Henderson. The only true superfight was GSP Penn when both where champs. But as much as the UFC can make this is about it. |

In a perfect world where judges do not mess up then yes this is a champion vs champion fight. In the world we live in though its more of "the curious case of Frankie Edgar" the story of the top 155 fighter on the planet unable to to get a title shot in his division and forced to run to a lighter division to find greatest that has been robbed from him.

No. There are only 2 real superfights out there, and they are Anderson/GSP and Anderson/Jones. |

Does anyone here actually think that Edgar lost the majority of rounds in his last fight? I have yet to hear a ration discourse on how Bendo won three of those rounds... Edgar is the real champion. This IS a superfight, and should be fucking awesome as all hell. |

The biggest fight in recent times, easily a super fight.
