So, i got another job. Waiting for the documentation. Anyway, I work on a team. I wont be missed. I want to get the heck out of here and i dont want to tell my manager/former- where i am going. (none of his f*king business). Can i just write a letter of resignation, leave my blackberry etc and go. In the future, i would use references from my previous job- not the current job that I am leaving. What does the OG think. ??? |

As long as you don't care that you can't use them as a reference (and the company/position isn't important enough that word-of-mouth will screw you over) you can just walk the F out of there. I would make sure the new job is a lock though. |

Burning bridges has a way of coming back to haunt you. I would give resignation, and offer to work for two weeks, as needed |

offer 2weeks, if he doesnt like you either then he might be ok with today being your last day ... but at least its on him and he can never say you left him high and dry without any notice. |

i would normally give 2 weeks but I dont want to answer where you going etc. Also, I would probably have gotten laid off this upcoming march. |

"As long as you don't care that you can't use them as a reference (and the company/position isn't important enough that word-of-mouth will screw you over) you can just walk the F out of there." - that sums it up. Just waiting for the documentation. |

sounds like you're going to tell them to fuck off but since you asked the OG for advice why don't you actually take it and be polite about it when you tell them to fuck off |

TrevorRice - "As long as you don't care that you can't use them as a reference (and the company/position isn't important enough that word-of-mouth will screw you over) you can just walk the F out of there." no this is just what you wanted to hear and you don't need to tell them anything. "I do not wish to disclose that" kind of seems you might have been the problem on your 'team' |

This is easy. Write a letter as follows: " Dear Manager's name: Effective February the 8th I hereeby resign from XYZ position. Thank you for the opportunity and I wish you well. Sincerely, TrevorRice " Then from that moment he gets the letter...start fucking with shit. Piss in the coffee maker. Shit in someone's drawer. HIDE an few eggs all over the office so that 6 to 8 weeks from now they really stick the place up. Superglue your drawers in your desk closed. Give all the passwords to what you worked on to your co-workers and on your last day change them all. |

Write a "Letter of Resignation" that is effective immediately and have it delivered to your boss's boss's boss. Be sure to explain the reasons why you couldn't stay on. I did this and had two very good jobs after that one. |

if this were 10-15 years ago, I'd say 2 weeks. Present day, most employers simply don't give a shit anymore. There may be some professions where it matters, but not very many. |

I worked with a guy once who did something similar. He gave a weeks notice and called in sick for 3 of those days. He was on his new job for about 6 months when the company made a major announcement. They had hired a new VP and were very excited about it. It was a manager from the company I was working at, and was this persons old bosses boss. Needless to say he made life hell for the guy and he had to find another job. |
