I've produced an album, but never released one myself. I used to have a ton of songs we played.

Playing live is more fun than album IMHO

I agree about playing live, but since that dream has been fulfilled, putting out an album is still on my list.

What did you put out? Promote your shit. Phone Post

Dude this was YEARS ago lol. Basically my good friend is a kickass drummer - like, really good. He's currently in some metal band called Skeleton Witch. Anyways, his band in the '90's was called Forefront. I helped him put out his CD, that's all.

Back then I was hardcore in to death metal and even though I wasnt a huge fan, I helped him out. Wasnt anything big lol - Just local shit. I coulnt even find it on the internet just now.

garrote - I'm an idiot. I'm drinking and realized that I have released an album. 2 actually. Not my own music though. Which is why I forgot.

About 10 years ago, I started a label and put out two CDs. Both were friends bands. 1 was a Korn-type band and the other was a post-hardcore band.

Created the thread thinking more about the musician's side of things though.

That's my way of TTTing the damn thing. Phone Post

How does one go about starting a label? Phone Post
Pretty easy actually. Just find a band you like and put the money up. I should have stuck with it, but I was done with music at the time.

I paid for the recording, pressing, and distribution. Phone Post

Holy shit. I can't believe somebody on here knows who Nile are!

I've partied with those guys before - pretty cool dudes.

Awesome man - Yeah, I used to be huge in to death metal. Dustin joined Skeleton Witch in late 2010 IIRC - Touring with them is his full-time job now. He's a fuckin' beast on the drums man. I remember when he first started playing. The dude was better than I ever got in like a month. Just one of those dudes with super-rhythm lol.

Funny story from my youth -

A dude who I met and was in a hostel with in Amsterdam was friends / worked with Erik Rutan. When I saw Erik again, I told him I had met his buddie, etc - Was always funny, everytime Erik would be in town I'd hang with whatever band he was playing with at the time. Cool dude.

USed to hang with the guys from Cannibal Corpse when they were in town. They had a great story about getting Pat Obrien a hooker in Adam since we're talking Amsterdam. They were playing in Tolouse France last time I was over there. I thought it would be fucking great to take a train to go seem them. Alas I didnt, but would have made for a great story. I knew alot of people in death metal when I was a younger.

5 albums. 2 were through indy label and 3 were independant releases. Did an aussie tour, supported some huge names and lived the life for 3 years.

Happy to post some songs. I was the vocalist. Probably hold the title for most awesome voice on the OG haha. Phone Post

At the '98 or '99 Milwaukee metalfest, I rolled this HOG LEG joint just for meeting up with some guys. Anyways, my guys and Dave Culross / Terrance Hobbs (suffocation) were in the circle, here I bust out this mammoth spliff! It was really big dude, lol - Anyways, we fire it up and it makes it around the circle once or twice - About then this BIGWHITESEXY secuity guard comes up and fucking takes it. Aww man I was so pissed. It was also the first time Suffocation had played live in years! Bummer!

^^ P.S. that same metal fest was Meshuggah's first time playing in the US ever. I had a couple of autographed shirts from that show until a few years ago. Gave most of my DM teeshirts away.

Yes...I was the original singer for ANNIHILATION TIME. We released a LP/CD and toured the U.S.A.

Sang in a bunch of little bands that played shows and were on compilation 7 inches/LP's.

I've owned a record label since 1990 and have about 13 releases. All vinyl releases except one CD. Here is a link to what's still in print...

http://revhq.com/store.revhq?Page=search&LabelId=84

Any questions about releasing a LP/CD or playing in a band/touring I can probably answer. I've probably attended over 3000 live music shows.

melodic hardcore-ish band, we put out a cd with a smaller label that had distribution through victory. it was cool to get our record in stores but ended up being a nightmare for us getting our music posted online.

Checked out your link. Don't recognize the bands, but that's pretty fuckin cool. My first band I put out was through revhq.

I plan on releasing some shit in June.

What do you recommend as far as marketing and getting the bands name out. Phone Post

Dr Smunk was our first band. We were signed with Hamer which was a small Melbourne label. The guy looked after us for gigs, helped make the album and then, this is great, we broke up, the guy who ran the label whom I won't say his name, was arrested for being in a child porn ring. This is 100% true. Next band was quarterline and we got offers from a few different labels but once again, band members are fucking pains in the ass so we lost the chance to fly to the states because two didn't want to lose their job for a once in a lifetime experience. The label name escapes me, just another indy melbourne label. That was about 12 years ago.

Still released a few albums with some groups after that but running an original band is fucking chaos if you're not all on the same page. In a 10 year run of original bands, we nearly took the next step about 5 times but for some reason or another, it never happened. So many awesome bands out there that people will never hear.

I haven't done originals in years. I play covers every week at clubs/ weddings which brings in better money than I ever made touring and struggling for cash but we had awesome times being young, playing music, and going crazy on stage. Phone Post
