So i found KickAss mall cop in Atlanta. Told him about reddit and he agreed to say hi to reddit.
He is a nice guy and that area is very dangerous. There is a cop station around the block but people still sell drugs around there. He has to wear kevlar and has his own mugshot book. He was not too proud about tasing the woman and wished it could have been avoided. He wouldn't mind doing an IAMA but he has to work. And yes... He said he wouldn't mind if you send him a beer... Edit: am on mobile can someone please link all 3 videos. Edit2: for his privacy any donations or fun stuff to be sent to his place of work by his own request. It is publicly known. Props to reddit users for stepping up and providing a seemingly good man that was just doing his job with a "reward" so to speak for doing a good deed.
And yes, tasing that walking shitbox was indeed a good deed in my book. |

I just checked the reddit page. His hazard pay just broke 11K. That's probably a decent chunk of his yearly pay. Good for him. I think it's great that he is getting positive attention. Our society seems to reward negative things anymore.

Reddit users have helped raise more than $17,000 to buy new and better equipment for “kick ass mall cop” Darien Long after video of him using his Taser on an out of control mother went viral. The incident that quickly garnered national attention occurred about eight months ago at Atlanta’s Metro Mall. It all began when Long, who is both the on-site manager and security guard at the mall, attempted to quiet a group of children who were making noise, prompting the kids’ mother to begin harassing and threatening him. Long showed incredible patience and restraint as the mother and a number of other women berated him continuously. Even the young children eventually began mocking the security guard, calling him “gay.” The mother who started the initial confrontation eventually assaulted Long, forcing him to use his Taser on the woman. The entire ordeal was recorded on the camera on Long’s bulletproof vest. The video, posted on Reddit Tuesday, has since gone viral. Long now has a formidable group of online supporters who are applauding his handling of the situation. The fundraising effort on crowdtilt.com will reportedly go towards purchasing Long better gear and equipment.
