This morning NPR did a segment on Hillary Clinton's impending departure from the position of Secretary of State. They emphasized that she was going out on a high note, as the most-liked political figure in the country. They pointed to a recent interview with Hillary and Obama on 60 minutes, and her successful appearance at the Benghazi hearings as evidence of her current popularity. When I arrived at work, the first headline I saw was in regards to the embassy bombing in Turkey. The juxtaposition got me thinking that it would be interesting to get contrasting lists- Hillary's accomplishments as SoS, versus the negative events that took place under her watch. So in case of FRAT: -What has Hillary accomplished? -At what things has she failed? |

Kmonk - This morning NPR did a segment on Hillary Clinton's impending departure from the position of Secretary of State. They emphasized that she was going out on a high note, as the most-liked political figure in the country. They pointed to a recent interview with Hillary and Obama on 60 minutes, and her successful appearance at the Benghazi hearings as evidence of her current popularity. As of late it seems she managed to get our ambassador and ensambles overrun and killed by at least grossly negligently (but to me seemingly purposefully) failing to adequately secure an embassy in an obviously hostile environment while having advanced warning. We also got involved in quite a few other undeclared and fruitless conflicts under her/Obama. Her accomplishments... um... I can't seem to recall any of real signifigance but then I'm sure she has done something of note. However, her failures have far out weighs whatever her accomplishments are IMHO. |

A search for her diplomatic accomplishments found the following: "But it was her Burma policy that won the highest praise from senators in the US Congress. "Through deft diplomacy, she has slowly opened Burma to the outside world. She is encouraging them to free political prisoners, hold parliamentary elections, and finally permit foreign investment. It is happening before our eyes," Sen Ben Nelson said in a speech on the Senate floor." http://www.irrawaddy.org/archives/25762 |

From another site: "Arguably her most lasting legacy will be the formation of an entity in the State Department dedicated to the empowerment of women around the world. Creating the office of the Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues means that there is a bureacracy within the United States government that is solely focused on making sure that women's issues are elevated when foreign policy decisions are made. "...There are other accomplishments to praise, including adding the protection of LGBT rights to the US human rights agenda; experimenting with new methods of digital diplomacy and engagement; and championing public-private partnerships like The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves." http://www.undispatch.com/why-hillary-clinton-was-an-excellent-secretary-of-state-women-girls |

Recapping a speech in November: "Among her accomplishments, she listed hosting town halls with global youth, raising awareness for religious minorities, protecting Internet freedom and advancing rights for women and the LGBT community around the world." http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/11/hillary-clinton-reflects-on-accomplishments-challenges-as-secretary-of-state/ |

I consider it a troubling sign that the majority of what most Americans know about their Secretary of State comes from a single episode of South Park. |

Awesome accomplishment that in 6 years we went from a relatively stable, pro-western government in the middle east and Africa, to having the majority of the middle east and north africa in open revolt, rebellion and civil war. "Let it go to shit, then hope it gets better naturally" ....brilliant strategy from the US State Department. Women's rights obliterated, check. Anti-discriminatory practices adopted, check. Education & economic repression on massive scale, check. Free expression and speech squashed, check. Open oppression, torture and murder of minority religions and females, check. Increase in human rights violations, check. All that stuff is FAR worse now than it was before she took office. (MSM says) Nothing to see here....don't pay attention to any of that other stuff (like factual results.) Hillary is a national hero. Give her an award, and a hearty pat on the back. She's a hero for being a high functioning female in a man's world. We'd love to have her as the first female president someday!!! |

She was so bad at her job she had to quit and leave 4 years between the damage she has caused and a run for the Presidency.

Can't wait for the Democrats to run Hilary again! Not only will she be a woman but she will also be a senior citizen this go around. She will appear to be a shoe-in, but the party will quickly once again discard her, run a nasty campaign against her, leave her crying on national TV on its way to nominating another young minority male. Obama won't support her and will stay impartial largely because Biden will run too. Then the Democrats will campaign that it is the REPUBLICANS that have a problem with women and old people... Let us revisit this in primary season. |
