Insomnium opening for fucking EPICA. I don't know why they were on tour with EPICA but I never thought I'd see Insomnium live so I had to go.

I would have paid 100 bucks just to listen to them all night vs all the rest of the bands.

Michael Franti opening for DMB in Raleigh NC about 5 years ago

And

Black Joe Lewis opening for Robert Randolph in Wilmington about 3 years ago

All the bands were good at both shows, but those two opening acts I remember having great shows with a ton of energy.

I'm not going to say they were better, but I saw Pearl Jam and Nirvana open up for the Chili Peppers at the LA in late 1991. Nevermind and Ten were blowing up at the time....it ws a pretty badass show

Saw the same show in Chicago, but they had Smashing Pumpkins instead of Nirvana.

It was at the Aragon Ballroom.

It was the last time I ever saw chairs on the main floor during a concert there

Strange mix but here we go:

-A very hungry U2 opening for a very bitter Police.
-Leo Kottke opening for Lyle Lovett.
-Level 42 opening for Madonna; what?
-Public Image Ltd opening for INXS; double what?

-A very hungry Living Colour opening for a very tired Rolling Stones the entire run of Steel Wheels, famously.
-Anyone opening for Guns & Roses, ever.

-The Lollapalooza where the lineup was George Clinton, then the Beastie Boys, then the Smashing Pumpkins, which is as dumb on paper as it was in reality; wtf?

Rob Zombie opening for Korn. Rob blew away Korn...they seemed ashamed to even walk on stage after the fire & brimstone show put on by R. Zombie.

I was in Phoenix.

It was like watching the Spin Doctors wipe their ass with the Mona Lisa.  Such an epic fail.

I went to see Rasputina at the autobar in Baltimore with my girlfriend at the time (she was a big fan, I dug them but they weren't mine).

The opening band was supposed to be "My Brightest Diamond," who I had never heard of. This diminutive chick with I think it was a fender telecaster takes the stage, alone with no backing band. I hear some questioning laughs scattered in the crowd.

This chick greets the crowd and breaks into song, her guitar lines were haunting and mesmerizing, her vocals dynamic and emotional. She was captivating. The song comes to a final crescendo and ends. There is a moment of complete silence that seems to stretch on forever, then all at once the crowd awakens as if from a spell with the most thunderous applause I have ever heard. The chick performed the entire set alone, playing songs that ranged from driving rock to french folk songs. It was the single best performance I have ever witnessed.

Rasputina was great, but nothing could have followed that set up.

I have 2 and both with the same headlining band. Aerosmith

One was a pretty well known local guy opening (he had one hit) Johnny Lang

And Jackyl was the second, both kicked the shit out of Aerosmith.

Why I went to see Aerosmith twice is anyone's guess

I've seen Theory of a Deadman live and I agree. They are easily the worst band I have ever seen in concert. Fucking awful.

MentalRage - Oh, and Godsmack kicked Motley Crue's ass.

Craziest concert I've ever been to was Crue

I have been in the pit for Suicidal Tendencies, Danzig, Pantera, White Zombie, Corrosion Of Conformity, Sepultura, Slayer and more

I shit you not Motley Crue was the fucking craziest one.

I was going to see a nice little hard rock show and have a good time, I was mistaken. I mean I had an awesome time but was not prepared for that.

I saw Bob Dylan open for Paul Simon when they were touring together 15 years ago.  Paul Simon is great and if it were anyone else he would have been just fine, but Bob Dylan was unbelievable.  He gave an Elvis level legendary performance and the very next concert the promoters switched the performance arrangement claiming it was their plan all along to have them switch half way through the tour.  Problem was, the concert I saw was the 3rd or 4th in the tour and it was obvious that no one should ever have to open for Bob Dylan when he is on his game..

When STP first got back together, they joined The Red Hot Chili Peppers. STP was amazing. Saw Collective Soul open for Creed. Not many people could of topped Collective Soul that night.
