I fix/build computers and I say no. Every business has markup and this one is no different. Troubleshooting takes time, removing and reinstalling a cpu takes time. Thermal paste isn't free and needs to be applied to the cpu. Some computer hardware is hard to get retail. The easiest and sometime quickest way to get them is to have them overnighted to you.

He may have marked up your CPU 20 bucks.

buckshot44 - Sounds like your computer isn't even worth $70.00, let along $140.00. Dual core processors are older than dirt.

I can set u up with a brand new quad core (AMD 3.4ghz, 4gb RAM, 500GB HD, HDMI mobo) tower for ~$350.00.
Really? Gonna send u a pm Phone Post

Clarence Parents - Flat rate 70$ = Flat rate 70$ .. if there was no agreement about potential extra cost for parts that they did not even ask your permission to put in.. tell them to go fuck themselves.

If you gave permission to replace the processor.. you owe them the money.

Didnt give permission to replace it. She called and said we replaced the processor. And its working now... But you have to pay for it.

But i did give permission to fix it. The man said nothing about parts. He said oh thats no problem. 70 dollars flat rate.
Yes $70 to work and labor to fix it. You still have to pay for parts that it may need. The flat rate is a labor flat rate. You seriously didn't think that if it needed a processor, mother board, memory, fan and rrethat that stuff would still only be $70 and he pays Phone Post

make sure you ask for the box & receipt for the processor you bought, you may very well lock them up and then you will know if you were taken to pound town

Top advice there. Vu when I can Phone Post

You realize you just voted up the computer noob who shit talked you, right?

Good Consumer practices is another subject entirely. I hope that isn't too difficult a concept for you. Phone Post

There are mistakes on both ends. Hardware and additional fees should never become a part of the equation unless agreed on by the consumer. Business should have contacted him, explaining, clearly, what needed to happen and how much it was gonna cost him. Phone Post

The guy said that. It seems that the business has some lax practices, which may get them in trouble if they ever really screw up. The reql problem is lack of clarity by the business and experience by the consumer when it comes to his confusion. The deal he got is acceptable, but I wouldnt put any more into that system.
