Scramble City - This is how you kill a division. Not a steroid scandal, not pedophile, not beating your wife, or some horrible street fight induce fatality or some other horrible crime. You make it monotonous. You award someone for losing fair and square and you undermine the judge's decisions.
For all the crap judges get for making bad calls. This act of giving an immediate rematch undermines actual good judging. The 155lb title is now a joke because it takes a series of 2-3 fights for a champion. On top of that it clogs an already clutter and confusing division with more then a top 10 waiting.
Honestly people call me a hater but Frankie Edgar is the worse thing to happen to the 155lb division and MMA itself. Its more then just his point fighting. He's to weak and small for the division. He's killing the division off, not with impressive wins with bodies at his feet but rather a slow strangle killing the interest in the 155lb championship. The way he is right now, he's not meant for this sport. He goes down to 145lb he just another generic fighter. He has no where to really go except retire. And I hope for the sake of the 155lb division and MMA itself he calls it quits sooner rather then later.
Absolutely agreed. He did nothing to deserve a rematch here. If the UFC wastes Aldo on one because "Frankie took all those rematches as Champ for us" again, they'll be wasting Aldo's talent.

He took rematches for you, Dana? And? Isn't it his JOB to take the fights you tell him are next??? Phone Post

Frankie only took one rematch as champion, verses BJ Penn (and it was the most warranted of the rematches he was involved with, in my opinion). The rematch with Maynard (or the rubber match) was necessary as their first title fight was ruled a draw. The rematch with Henderson was rather unwarranted in my opinion.

Chael is the next LHW champ - EDGAR GOT ROBBED THAT WAS ONE OF THE WORST ROBBERIES IN UFC HISTORY

EDGAR WON ROUNDS 3-5.

The only damage Aldo did was with some leg kicks in rounds 1 and 2

Yeah, but if you leg kick someone so hard that their eye closes and their nose breaks, I'll give you win every damn time.

I think aldo takes a rematch quite easily.

Why did he stop kicking? He was actually destroying frankie with the kicks.

Also aldo's cornermen should learn how to score a fight.

Hopefully there won't be a rematch. Not sure about you but I'm tired of watching Frankie in rematches. Give him someone else to fight for a change.

Trick or Truth - Hasn't got enough power, pitter patter punches + biased commentary doesn't win fights. Was a great fight though I had it 48 - 47 Aldo. Get Fight from both guys.
Silly.

His last win was by tko. Phone Post

Yeah true, but even then I don't think his power was very good, he just hurt Maynard and was able to sit down on his punches. He doesn't have power because he chooses not to sit down on his punches and instead ends up with pitter patter punches, I mean look at Aldo's face after the fight, wasn't a scratch on him.

Jsteven - i thought he won the last 3

I had 1-2 Aldo. 4-5 Frankie and can see the argument for either in 3.

I personally felt Frankie finished the round stronger and felt he would edge it based on his gaining momentum at the end of 3 being the fresher memory for the judges.

4-1 is absurd.

well rounded poster -  LOL you guys are fucking classic. Aldo actually picked Edgar apart in the opening rounds. As in, there was a noticeable gulf in ability.

You're going to call for a rematch because the champ cruised for the last couple of rounds? Fuck me dead it never ends Phone Post

I absolutely agree with the first paragraph. The gulf was massive.

The second paragraph is wrong. Aldo didn't cruise. Aldo was simply unable to keep pace with Frankie, this meant his offensive output dropped so he could conserve energy to maintain his defensive output.

This is why the fight was compelling and a great fight. Frankie is outclassed, Aldo can't put him away, and you know that as the fight goes on Aldo will get weaker and Frankie will come on stronger and stronger.

The narrative of the fight from the Rogan point of view completely mirrored this. Joe was all up swinging from Aldo's balls for the first two and a half rounds talking about how insane Aldo's striking is compared to anyone else, and jacking himself off over the impact sounds :)

Then around the halfway point of the fight, Joe picks up on the subtle but shifting momentum of the fight and starts building that narrative. He was right, Aldo was less a threat and with Aldo firing back, Frankie was able to start getting to Aldo.

The fair call in that fight is 3-2 either way or 2-2 1 even.
