After seeing this fight i dont see Overeem doing too well in the UFC.

- He gasses after 2 rounds of minimal work
- Not too confident in standup judging by 2nd LnP
- Weak chin

I see guys like Struve, current Hunt, Kongo, Nelson, Current Werdum, Barnett, Mir , JDS, Stipe, even Barry beaing him.

The blueprint is clear now. Let him gas himself, then explode on him and he breaks. Big foot did this and BAM, ko

the roids make him gas early, he is not cut out for top tier mma if he is on the juice and he would be 205 if were not on them. He is 260 in a 220 frame.

If he fights JDS next, that is a loss.

For a long time ive heard these 2 assestments

1. Reem was getting KO'd because of 205 weightcut and being tired

2. Reem is not a true HW, hes just muscle

Both versions he has bad cardio and gets KO'd

doubt it, HW is far too shallow for this to be possible.

Reem looked like complete shit last night. I think it was during the first round, I said that he was covered in ring rust in the "UFC 156 results and discussion" thread.

He looked out of shape, out of focus, wasn't putting anything meaningful together. He just was not ready to be in the octagon, not even close.

That said, bigfoot was definitely ready. He did a great job.

As for Overeem loosing 3 in a row. Could be possible, watching his fight last night was like watching him fight in slow motion. His weaknesses were very easy to see, I am sure that all the other heavyweights saw what I saw, he has HUGE holes in his game. I doubt most of the top heavyweights in the UFC will have much of a problem putting him away after seeing that fight.

Overeem is like Belfort in that he is great at giving beatings but he can't take one when the going gets tough in a fight.

reem won every second of that fight until the knee from bigfoot at the end of the 2nd round. lets not get carried away. he beats most guys at hw just by bullying them with his size and strength in the clinch.

I wouldnt rule out ring rust if it wasnt for the fact that his cardio is always bad and he was talking cocky and fought that way

He was off for a while but he didnt sound like he was too woried.

I think a good match-up for him is Ben Rothwell right now, both are currently on losing streak.

He gets arrogant, he gets cocky, he gets caught. Fair play and good work by Bigfoot.

Reems cardio was not the issue. He was not out of breath. He clearly and decisively won the first two rounds.

He got sloppy (see arrogance) and got smashed on the side of his head with a lunch-box sized fist wielded by about 280 pounds of opponent. Followed immediately by a combo that would have dropped a rhino.

It was not his "chin" nor his cardio. It was his attitude. And perhaps some ring rust as noted by EvilMaster.

Now Reem is going to never come back and lose three in a row? Don't count on it.

Reem won 1st 2 rounds but according to Big Foot his gameplan was to let Overeem tire himself out. So overeem being able to bully guys means nothing because he will gas eventually.

And like you pointed out, Big foot exploded at the end of the 2nd round while reem was gassing. Clear what was going on. Its funny that Overeem won both rounds but big foot did the most damage in his 30secs of offense

gutsy gameplan if true. though bigfoot is one guy who is big and strong enough to play this game without taking too much damage from Reem. I can't imagine guys like Kongo and Barry having as much luck with Overeem raining down fists and elbows from top control

From what i saw from this fight he wasnt landing much as far as gnp goes. He was more on the LnP side.

If he takes barry or kongo down, i see him getting tired like usual

even in the werdum fight he didnt do anything but trips and was gassed and getting tee'd off on

I think the best for the reem is to drop some mass and really work on his cardio , the skills are there but sadly not the endurance and he needs to put some combos together use those nasty leg kicks. Phone Post

Struve is solid , wouldn't be surprised at all if he pulled a sub on the reem from his back , cause i don't see him taking him down. Phone Post

Apparently if Struve makes it out or round 1 or 2 his chances of victory double Phone Post

LOL @ attributing that to 'ring rust'.

Who knows what the future hold for Overeem? After being on the losing end of a brutal knockout like the one Bigfoot delivered last night, he's probably going to take some time off (again) to assess some things, with hopefully one of them being a new camp where he's not the guy running his own camp. The same could be said for Rashad BTW.

I've seen Overeem finished before, but usually it's a TKO after he's gassed, etc. He had his lights switched off in Vegas by Bigfoot, and that is never a good sign for a guy who's been fighting as long as Reem.
