Landing 10 shots that have no real effect vs 5 that bust your face open is the story of that fight. |

irishrottie - that! best example are leg kicks. Edgar kicked Aldo probably 15 times and those kicks had absolutely no effect. Aldo kicked him 4 times (even took him off his feet once) and his leg turned purple instantly.... Edgar's face was bloody and swollen, Aldo had nothing....that is how you see how effective your striking is...not by the number you touched someone... |

irishrottie - This. People need to understand the scoring criteria for Effective Striking:
F. Clean Strikes
G. The heavier striker who lands with efficiency, deserves more credit from the Judges than total number landed.
1. If the striking power between the fighters was equal, then the total number landed would be used as the criteria. 2. The total number of strikes landed, should be of sufficient quantity favoring a fighter, to earn a winning round.
Plain as day that 3+5 should be Aldo's after reading this and watching the rounds with out Rogan or any other bias. Glad the judges got this fight correct. Obvious winner is obvious.

madmaxej9 -irishrottie - I feel you are correct until you go into the description of the looks of Edgar vs Aldo.
You should only be looking at the force and impact, and not how different fighters faces and bodies react to the damage. Gingers and pale crackas always swell and show more visible damage. I try to only focus on the impact and physical reaction of the opponent to guage how "Effective" the striking is. Hope that made sense. |
