Along the likes of Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Michael Phelps. Place your votes. http://sports.espn.go.com/sportsnation/feature/index?page=greatestofalltime |

If he is the only fighter mentioned in an intra-sport GOAT discussion, is it safe to say hes MMA's GOAT? |

I voted for him although he has no realistic chances of winning it all. He should beat Phelps though. |

Andersons_Chin - If he is the only fighter mentioned in an intra-sport GOAT discussion, is it safe to say hes MMA's GOAT? Well isn't that obvious lol ? He's the greatest by a country mile. |

Gretzky should win the entire thing, him or Bo. Woods I wouldn't complain about because he was the single most dominant athlete ever, even if it was for 5 years in a sport where guys have 30 year careers. |

There is some tough competition there. Phelps is not an easy match-up....I think Anderson can take it. |

The comments on there had a great discussion on athlete vs player. If we are talking about athletic ability alone it's really hard to argue against Bo Jackson. He had it all at uncharted levels size, strength and speed. Who else has even come close to dominate two professional sports in the modern era like he did?

Silva isn't even the best MMA fighter, let alone the greatest athlete. I don't think Ali is the greatest boxer either. It's a very strange list. |

It seems unfair to have guys that are still active in their sport up against guys that have retired. |

Gretzky without a doubt. You guys ever look at the all time points leaders in the NHL? He has almost 1000 more points than the next person. More than 50% more than the next person which is Messier. http://espn.go.com/nhl/history/leaders |
