http://www.mmamania.com/2013/2/14/3989270/ufc-157-lyoto-machida-dan-henderson-bas-rutten-mma Kind of surprising coming from Bas. If Machida is one dimensional then what exactly is Hendo? Also, despite what he says, rushing Lyoto is FAR from a good idea. |

MMA is becoming like rap beef, everybody is always talking shit in hopes of somebody else paying attention. |

Does he have a personal problem with Machida? That's the only reason I can think of that he would say something so ignorant. |

People sleep on Hendo's stand-up as being somehow crude, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with having the fundamentals of a hard right hand blow down pat. (His left hook is devastating too, of course, although his preferred stance doesn't often allow him to make use of it.) For the rest, there's a strong clinch, above average freestyle wrestling and an under-rated ground game. (Shogun's a BJJ black belt -- putting him in a crucifix was no mean feat.) It's not fair to say Dan is "one-dimensional" just because he's good at knocking people down with his power hand and does it often. |

Machida has many more weapons than Dan Henderson has.

There is no question that Machida has more tools to win the fight. |

Is Bas suffering from Post Concussive Syndrome? |

"Dan is the man's man. Like any guy on the planet, they love Dan because he's got a lot of heart and he always comes to fight. I always get emotional because he's really that guy. That's why I want to see him win and I think he has that chance because he knows when he lands that 'H-bomb,' it's goodnight. I'm gonna get a lot of heat now. Machida doesn't have a lot of weapons. Whatever he does, he does really well. He's got great distance, great accuracy, but his attack is always the same. It's a cross, or a kick and a cross. When you push him, he always moves to the same side. So, if Dan would look at that and just bullrush him, he could throw a big hand there and that could stop him." |

IMO Machida has a wayyy bigger toolbox for this fight than Henderson does |

Tough fight style wise for Dan and I completely disagree with Bas. |

I think Bas is correct, that is Dan's best chance of winning. But he better do it early before Lyoto establishes his range. |

Machida has had an over reliance on the straight left, but his strikings look more varied. Every fighter will have their go-to techniques |

Hendo will never catch Machida with a rush. the difference in quickness between those two is night and day. Dan's only chance is to bait Machida into doing something and hit him with the right when he doesn't see it coming |

machida consistently: -doesn't throw hooks -only jumps in and out because he refuses to stay in the pocket so yes, even though he moves well and is quite good, he does limit himself in terms of what he throws and how he throws |

I see what Bas is saying, he sometimes has an over reliance on certain techniques and always fights the same way, but every fighter has certain moves that they favor over others. Machida has much more tools then Dan does |
