Hey Evan. My comapny, AVATAR Sports, will be holding a small MMA event in Vancouver, WA on August 24th. If I gave you ringside tickets, would you want to come and watch, assuming your not out of town fighting or cornering some one? I wouldn't even announce you to the crowd, I would just like to get some well known people there to watch. By the way, in case your not aware (since you haven't lived here too long), Vancouver is right across the Columbia River from Portland. It would be about a 15 drive from Gresham.

Evan I posted these on C Hurrle's thread, but I don't think you saw them: I've often thought your standup (outside of the clinch) is underrated, especially the way you carved up Darryl Gholar in UFC 18. That said, how much are you working on improving your long range strikes with Team Quest? Have you worked at all with Mo Smith, or have your priorities been elsewhere? One more question if you don't mind. Have you been able to put on muscle, or is that a priority at all? I just ask because I believe you were listed at 198 at UFC 36, when most fighters cut to even get to 205. I'm impressed you've been as successful as you have been. Good luck! |

Thanks Evan. I will send some tickets for you guys over to the gym as the event gets closer. If you can't make it, I understand!
Has Zuffa given you any kind of time line, or number of matches you will need to win in order to get another shot at the belt?
Popular word is that you will fight in London against Vladamir Matyushenko in July. Is this being discussed? Do you feel like you match up well with Matyushenko?
Even though I approached you at the FCFF and thanked you already, I want to do so again. Just to remind you, my wife and I met you in Portland a few weeks before you finally moved here. You sent us some old USWF stuff you had laying around. That was cool. Thanks again.

PolloLoco I really like to use the knees and elbows, which turned out to be very effective in the Gholar fight. I believe it's an aspect of standup fighting that is under appreciated, and possibly overlooked. I have been doing a lot of work on the outside, longer range strikes since I made the move to train with Team Quest. I don't know how long it will take for me to feel comfortable enough to use it effectively in competition. Haven't had much of an opportunity to work with Maurice. The distance is a big factor. I've definitely been working hard to put on muscle. At this level, weight can become a big factor, and I have been going into all of my fights very underweight. Dropping to middle might be an option that I have to consider. |

Evan, Welcome to the Underground. Now that you're with Team Quest, would you do differently in a fight against a top wrestler? -The Great Cornholio |

Evan - I have heard the Evan Tanner legend that you started out training on your own and watching videos. If you could talk about how you got started with MMA, what you did training-wise to make the jump from good athlete to fighting for the UFC title. |

obviously, Team Quest is especially noted for it's clinchwork. what drills, exercises, etc. do you use to train clinchwork for MMA? What do you think are the most important things for someone to know about clinch range fighting? I have heard that the Straight Blast Gym and Team Quest work together often on fighting from the clinch, what do you feel you have learned/gained from SBG and what do you feel you have taught/shared with SBG? |
