Has anybody tried the Ender Series of books by Orson Scott Card? I have given up on the Sword of Truth series, and cant find the Malazan books anywhere around here. I dont really like space shows like Star Trek or Babylon 5. But I did enjoy a little bit of the Mission Earth series, before I was overcome by the word count of the largest dekalogy in the world. |

The first book (Ender's Game) is fantastic. Then the story splits off into two distinct paths the Speaker of the Dead series of books and the Shadow series of books. Both story lines are decent and I enjoyed reading them but nothing touches the first book. Wade |

Ender's Game was my favorite book growing up. I read it around twenty times. Well worth checking out but the rest of the series kind of sucks imho. |

I really liked Ender's Game. Cool story, good characters, smooth read. Haven't read the rest of the series, but Ender's Game is a strong stand-alone novel. |

Loved Ender's Game. In fact I've got a friend of mine who is nearly 60 and prefer's historical fiction and cowboy type stuff over any other genre and I got him to read Ender's Game, the Orphanage, and Starship Troopers. Of course the guy has also read ever Cormac Macarthy book except the Road so he's all good anyway. |

Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead were brilliant. i enjoyed Xenocide as well, but wasn't impressed by Children of the Mind or the Ender's Shadow stuff. Card has some other good stuff out there that i'd highly recommend. Songmaster, Pastwatch, Wyrms, The Worthing Chronicles are all worth looking for. |

Card's best work is in fantasy, his Alvin Maker series, though uneven in quality, is still first rate, it's like Arnold winning the 80 Olympia, just as he suffered in comparison to the Arnold of 73, 74, some of the later Maker books are weak in comparison to the earlier, regardless, just as Arnold was still the best in 80, Card's latter work in the series still excells when measured against "the others" |

if you read enders game, you will want to know what happens to the character and read the rest of the series. the subsequent books just dont catch you like the first one unfortunately. |

The Ender series is probably the best genre fic I've ever read. I like both sets of sequels. The Ender books are more literary and philosophical while the Shadow books (or the Bean books as I call them) are more political and personal. PASTWATCH is Card's best book other than ENDER'S GAME |

"PASTWATCH is Card's best book other than ENDER'S GAME" Pastwatch *was* damn good, but IMO his best was Wyrms, or maybe The Worthing Saga. |

Worthing was awesome as are the Alvin books except for the last one. I wonder what it is with Card that makes him lose steam with extended series. Must be drawing 'em out for a paycheck. |

Did you guys know Card edited a book all about LOST? He also wrote ULTIMATE IRON MAN, which was okay, but basically an ENDER'S SHADOW remake. |

I loved Enders game, I liked Speaker for the dead, I have burned out and not finished Xenocide. Im giving the The Game of thrones another shot at the moment. |

I thought the series lost it's energy as it ran on - the firs is great as a standalone book. Don't need to go further. |

I love Orson, but I was disappointed to find out what a mega-homophobe he is. |

I just finally read "Ender's Game" for the first time-- wow I loved it. I was just contemplating whether to read the sequels without reading too many spoilers-- they sound a little weird but I guess I'll try "Speaker" at least since it was highly regarded I'm not a big scifi fan but this book was something special, I can see why it's still being read by the military and such |

It's just a bunch of crypto-Mormon propaganda. Yawn. (Just if you want a dissenting opinion) |

Ender's Game was in a league of its own. The rest of them are just pretty good. |
