HD-DVD BBC version seriously blows away my Time-Warner HD cable feed. If you have a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, Planet Earth is quite simply the best HD video that I have ever seen. Even if you are waiting on HD & BR, Planet Earth(on reg. dvd or cable) is a must-see life-changing documentary of our world.

I am not sure if I could possible add anymore details except just do a simple google search of the "Planet Earth review". This is a DVD set you can comfortably buy without ever seeing one episode. It is that good. |

please tell me which of the following most accurately describes your reaction to this program: (A) 'Wow, global climate change is something we should all be worried about, now that I understand more about it. Cool images. I forgot to return Rear Window..' (B) 'Holy shit that was one of the most detail oriented and coolest productions of animal behavior and nature Ive ever seen. Awesome visuals and howd they get thos cameras so close....and late fees?' Thanks! |

If I had to pick: B. (B) 'Holy shit that was one of the BRIEF most detail oriented and coolest productions of animal behavior and nature Ive ever seen. Awesome visuals and howd they get thos cameras so close....and late fees?' I added "brief" due to the fact that in our ADD riddled world, the short descriptions of each encounter/situation described was just enough to create envy for the average viewer. I would have liked a more indepth discussion about nearly every scenario. I enjoyed this program more for the spectacular aspects which I knew little to nothing about of this world, than the fear envoked by the behavior of Earth. Sadly though, I probably should feel opposite. |

I have the 360 HD DVD player, but I find myself ambivalent about buying disks for it. Whichever format wins, it will be teh suck for those who bought into the other format. Damn format war. |

I have the Toshiba HD player. I figured that regardless of which format wins, I will have a badass player for my old dvds for a relatively cheap price. I did read that the 360 HD player needs to have the current update for Planet Earth HD to work on it. |

I'm picking it up on BlueRay for sure - the best nature show ever. I never thought Blue Planet: Seas of Life would be knocked off the number 1 spot but it was |

I bought the Discovery channel non-HD version box set for $80 this weekend and am watching it on my plasma HD tv via upconvert DVD player in 1080i. Looks better than a lot of the HD broadcasts I see. Awesome stuff. |

No shit, eh? Right on. When Cire said " This is a DVD set you can comfortably buy without ever seeing one episode. It is that good. " I got the feeling that this was something to see, and since I dont own a blue ray dvd yet, Id thought Id scoop it up - and I did. Last copy at the future shop. Ill post my measely $0.02 after I have some viewing under my belt. |

watched the freshwater/mountains DVD last night (well most of it). The birds of paradise segment was just incredible. The cleaning behavior and color display/dancing was just remarkable. Of course the footage of the shark breaching in Africa was insane. Of course the blu ray/Sony LCD combination didnt hurt either. Thanks for making this thread Cire. |
