besides the Oilers - which teams do you guys think have a chance of being worse than the bruins this year? they've made some interesting moves, but have failed to address any of the teams real problems. chances are they'll flail about like they did last year - with a stretch or two of strong play. so what teams will be worse? |

Bruins just got Fernandez, I think they aren't that bad, looked good in the 2nd half of the season. Defense is obviously a big problem, Chara can't do everything alone. I think their PP and offense has great up and coming stars. I'd rank the bruins probably 19th or 20th in the NHL right now. Columbus, Isles, Washington, Chicago, Phoenix, LA, Toronto,Edmonton, TB, and Philly (I know I'll take criticism for the last two but I don't think they are better than Boston) are all ranked behind Boston in my opinion. |

fernandez isnt that much of an upgrade considering how bad the defensive system is in boston. goaltending wasnt the issue ... defense is |

fernandez is an upgrade from thomas in my opinion. I'll admit their depth on defense is shit, but they do have some young guys who can breakout, also I think Aaron ward had an off year defensively. They do have some good weapons on offense though, Savard, Murray (looked decent last season), Bergeron, Sturm, Schaefer, and I'm sure Bochenski will breakout next season. Also Kessel can chip in for 40 points. |

fernandez is light years ahead of thomas. worst team? hard to say, but it is probably going to be a western team. |

"fernandez is light years ahead of thomas." ill reserve judgement until i see him play on a team without any defence |

i agree that boston's defense is as good as marlon brando (RIP) trying to stop krispy kremes from getting into his stomach, but fernandez is a great goalie. i can't say it will get them points though, because i don't know the rest of the bruin upgrades off the top of my head. but manny did great for junior team canada; i knew he was going to be good. |

Ok, i was wrong about fernandez being an upgrade so far. But bruins are far from the worst team so far. PTA, you gotta admit, you are pretty impressed so far. Kessel has improved vastly, I gotta admit. Metropolit and Kobasew have been quietly good as well. |

i am impressed - i expected as much from kessel/kobasew. whats surprised me so far is the team defense. it isnt good - but it isnt anywhere near as terrible as it was last season. they are hurting without bergeron - down a goal a game. but thomas has been solid as usual |
