Conway's ban on the wearing of camouflage uniforms, or "cammies," off base that is getting the most attention, changing not only the appearance of the Marines but also the look of their communities. |

That's been the Navy's rule for a long time. About time the Marines joined their fellow sailors. |

i can understand why the navy would do it. those dungarees are fucking fugly. i bet those officers wear their non-bdu uniform of the day off base. |

That's the Navy rule. No utilities (includes coveralls and BDUs) off base. |

Makes me feel good when I see guys in BDUs off base. Reminds me that the military is working. My state does not have too many active duty bases. Almost 100% guard and reserve units. stephen |

Actually, that has been the USMC policy for a very long time...at least since the 50s. Nothing new...just a re-clarification. I always thought the no utilities off base was a stupid rule. |

Utilities are for work..nobody's gonna kick your ass for gassin; up in them, but you dont go to the fucking mall in your cammies. When i see army BDU's off base somewhere it just tells me that they're shopping. It takes 2.5 minutes to change into some civvies. |

That was a motor Transport(in my squadron) rule when I was at Miramar. Especially after 9/11, it changed to an air station reg. |

Old topic but you are allowed to travel in cammies but God forbid you absolutly have to stop or are seen out in public in them. Just take civies, anything else isn't worth the hassle you will get anywhere here in San Diego if something comes up. Even filling up a your gas tank before breaking down at the side of the road will get you locked if someone sees you. |
