Everywhere I look online it says an athlete can resume training in 2-4 weeks after a Grade 2 MCL tear. I tore mine(Grade 2) 6 weeks ago and I can just now bend it past 90 degrees. It feels like something is gonna rip if I bend it more. It still hurts if I twist it turning in my sleep(or awake). Anybody have any experience they can share? Is this normal? I have a doctor appointment next week, but in the meantime...? Should I be trying to stretch it? Any help is appreciated. |

The 2-4 weeks thing probably assumes the knee has been under treatment the whole time. There are a number of possible reasons why your recovery is taking longer. Be gentle with your knee when working to increase the ROM. Have your doctor and/or a good physical therapist check it out before attempting anything aggressive. |
