This guy seems to know what hes doing. I'm going to try stepping on my sandan instructors thigh when he turtles on me and see how bad of a beating I get. |

All these teckniques are a slight vaiation from the basic ones taught. Uke is hardly resisting and would be much more defensive with his hands. Hard to guage whether they are just as good/better than the basics. What truely mattters is which ones are "you" able to do instictively in competition. |

i'm just looking for a way to attack my instructor when he turtles on me. I'll get owned anyway but i want to try to surprise him. I tried to quickly grab a kimura and roll him over but i did it wrong lastweek and ended up in kesa getame then h put my arm over his leg and armbarred me from kesa. Everyone else doesn't like rolling with him but i see it as a learning experience. |

"P.S I have a pet peeve of ukes who resist too much" We used to have a guy who would try and strip your grip off during uchi-komi. LOL One method of attacking the turtle that I've had success with recently(so it must be easy to do), was stolen off Craig Fallon during last years GB World Cup. Here goes for it(and fails) at around the 40s mark, but gets it at around 2:20. Watch all the other videos of that day, he tries it several times and usually succeeds. On opponents left side, your left hand goes in his collar behind the neck. Other grabs his belt. You drag him on top of you and butterfly sweep him over. |

I have been trying to remember old Sangaku setups during my bjj class. I totally forgot about that arm tie up.(suffice to say it was never a strong tech for me) |

I'm in Olympic Marketing professionally. Judo is known as a "Vertical" sport, and won't get much coverage in North America on the network broadcasts. CTV may have some better coverage in Canada than in the USA. Unfortunately, our best bet will be online resources. |

"So did uke bridge up on his own or did tori somehow force uke to bridge up before he switched into sankaku?" he even says "bridge" while explaining so i assume hes saying that uke does it. my favorite escape from that position is to bridge and roll. this usually ends up with me on my knees and him face down still locked up on my arm. if i manage to get over to my knees then i press my elbow down into the mat. this gives me a few seconds to release my grip and free up a hand to escape further. that was a cool ass counter to my bread and butter escape. |
