How the heck do you cook brown rice without it becoming a sticky mess? Everytime it ends up like wall paper paste. |

The directions on most packages of rice are horseshit. They always tell you to put too much water; I have no idea why. If it's telling you to put 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice, try 1 1/2 cups of water. If it says 1 1/2 cups water, try 1 1/4. Cook as usual, but when the time is up, turn off the heat and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. I almost always have to do this with every type of rice and every brand. |

I usually go with 1-3/4 cup water to 1 cup rice. When the time is up, I partially uncover the pot. p.s. - I usually check the progress after 17-18 min, and more times than not it's ready (no excess water) |

Wash the brown rice twice, let soak for ten minutes, then throw into the garbage. Then take some beautiful short grain white rice, wash until water is clear, add cold water up to your first index knuckle, let soak for ten minutes, then start rice cooker. Unplug rice cooker when done but don't open lid for ten more minutes. Fluff and serve.

Cover it in an enormous amount of cold water and salt and boil hard for 25mins. Check it after 20mins though and don't let it boil dry. It's very simple compared to white rice. |

Somehow I never have a problem with the 2:1 ratio. Try using Lundberg's Organic Short Grain Brown Rice...very good and dead easy to make. White rice is for pussies with no taste buds. |

Boil some water, throw the rice in. Let it cook for a few minutes, strain the water into a large pot, throw the rice in the garbage and drink the water once cool. |
