What would be the best hooligan bike? I am talking about a bike to do power wheelies, jumping curbs, and zipping around town? I am thinking about something light and torquie like a KTM supermoto single. Any thoughts? |

the ktm is the more practical choice, but husabergs are badass, same power as the ktm but 40kg's lighter. wish i had either bike. edit: noticed that's the new smc, much cooler bike. it's only 27.5 kgs heavier than the husa. |

I think the Aprillia is the nicest motorard bike but I think they would be expensive to maintain, same with the husaberg. The KTM isn't too bad. I sat on a SMC the other day and it is way tall for me. I know the bike will sink a few inches but damn, it's high for a street bike. |

Right now I have a mini moto, a CRF 230. It is fun ripping around the twisties but no power wheelies :( |

You don't, actually you can ride on dry dirt but you can't climb steep hills. |

Are they basically dirt bikes with street tires? How do they handle on the street? How quick do they accelerate? Can you ride on a highway? |

Mostly dirt bikes with street tires. Some things (fork angle maybe?) and shocks might be different. They handle better than anything out there. There are many pics of supermoto guys at insane lean angles on the web. They accelerate fairly quickly because they're single cylinder. Lots of torque, easy to wheelie. They run out of steam on the top end, so on a regular track a sportbike will leave them. But on a twisty mountain road (palomar for example) they will rip it up. Yes on the freeway, but small fuel tanks and no wind protection makes them less than ideal as a long range ride. |

I saw a videos of KTM's racing zx-10s, R-6 etc. They hold their own up until the triple digit straightaways. Kauai has short roads so a supermoto is the way to go. They also can handle a few spills. I saw a SuperDuke on Kauai, $15K out the door! I'd kill myself on that thing. |

Hyosung is coming out with a 450cc single supermoto bike, supposed to be around $5k and 50hp. Pretty sweet looking bike and if theyre as good as their street bikes id buy one |
