Maybe it's just because I'm used to it, but this is one of those meals where I happen to like pre-made shit the best. Give me some pop-n-fresh biscuits and packaged gravy mix over any of the fancy homemade stuff I've had. |

Here's a recipe from a lil old southern lady for a killer, and I mean KILLER, sausage gravy: 1 lb. ground sausage (sage is best in this recipe) 2 Tbsp. flour 1 cup milk 1 cup water 1/4 cup brewed coffee (this is the secret ingredient) salt and pepper brown sausage. add flour and brown. add milk and water. simmer until thickness you like. stir in the coffee. if you love sausage gravy.... this will make your day! |

I'm gonna make this stuff for my wife. She loves this stuff. We even cross the border to eat at Bob Evans every few weeks or so to get a gravy and biscuit fix. In Canada no one has ever heard of this phenomenon. |

The coffe addition sounds interesting... would never have imagined coffee as an ingredient but I will have to try it. |

Jay-dog - The coffe addition sounds interesting... would never have imagined coffee as an ingredient but I will have to try it. I believe the coffee addition makes it a "red-eye" gravy, a southern thing. |

I'm a southern boy and gravy is always on the table for breakfast here. I stay away from it cause it kinda defeats the training. But my mom used to make bologna and gravy or tomato gravy. You just fry(oil or bacon drippings) up your bologna till brown then remove and make your gravy(with water) in the same pan & add bologna bake to it when done. It's awesome!!! They make Red Eye with either coffee or Coke. |
