I just got a load of Irish Smoked Salmon and I'm looking for suggestions on how to eat it, what to make with it etc etc. Any ideas? Thanks DROC |

Anyone else, I'm looking for a few different suggestions. I made some smoked salmon flavored scrambled eggs this morning, it was good but would have been better with Dill (I had none in the house) We had slices of country style bread with finely chopped onions, smoked salmon and a bit of lemon juice at lunch time. Would have been better with cream cheese or creme fraiche (I had none in the house) I think I'll go shopping tomorrow morning. DROC |

post any interesting recipes you come across, I love smoked salmon but pretty much only eat it one way ... straight outta the bottle or on melba toast or crackers ... |

The bottle? I didn't do anything especially interesting, didn't wanna drown the taste of the salmon with lots of other flavors. Mix creme fraiche, finely cut onion (not too much) and dill. Spread it on some nice bread straight from the bakery then add a slice of Smoked Salmon and a squeeze of lemon juice. I made a quiche with onion, dill, red and green peppers too, that was tasty as hell. Gonna make some with pasta tomorrow, not really sure what else. DROC |

gravlox is a good way to prepare a big hunk of salmon for longer term use. Basically it's a dry rub of salt & fresh herbs. pretty good |

LeroyJ - gravlox is a good way to prepare a big hunk of salmon for longer term use. What's Gravlox? I got the salmon already smoked, can you use gravlox on that? Thanks DROC |

I agree with the Dill, it really brings out the flavor of the Salmon and not just in the omelette. DROC |

Wikipedia has a pretty good explanation of what gravlax is. In swedish, to "grava" refers to a method of preserving salmon (or other fish) by curing it in salt and sugar, and it is damn good! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravlax |
