You can never say "always", obviously, but I agree from the standpoint that if I had to choose, I'd choose strong pitching over a big offense, particularly in a playoff series. |

In general, I disagree, but the statement is really vague, so depending on the situation I might be able to agree. ONE great pitcher versus ONE great hitter in ONE at-bat will USUALLY work out in the pitcher's favor. A great pitching staff against a great hitting team in the regular season or a seven game series involves far too many other factors to say something like that. |

Agreed for the most part. But how many times have we seen great pitching performances end up with a ND or a loss because of lack of run support? One on one though, yes. |

what year did Tommy Lasorda say this? I agree with it before the steroid era, now these guys the swing the bat are as big as linebackers and the fences are the same dinstance, not fair to pitchers theyre going to use drugs, move the fences back 100ft |
