Here is my "poor mans" outdoor kitchen. I couldnt afford to have one made, so did it myself. I wish I would have taken a true "before" pic, but basically, there was nothing there. Blue please... http://inlinethumb16.webshots.com/45071/2134375450062402599S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb25.webshots.com/33368/2419573160062402599S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb58.webshots.com/11897/2630108990062402599S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb35.webshots.com/26018/2762741890062402599S600x600Q85.jpg |

p.s. It looks a lot better now. when i took the last pic, the mortar was still wet and bricks werent sealed. I did everything for about $800 bucks, so I am pretty happy. |

Near Galveston, TX. water in the back is a neighborhood "lake", more like retention pond but it looks nice. Lots of fish in there, so fun to take kids fishing in backyard. |

what's the cabinet on the left? storage? looks like a sweet spot to put a small fridge for prep, beer, etc. |

You bricked that yourself? Nice work, especially if you're an amateur. Is it in your DNA? |

The cabinet on the left is for my tunes. I have a stereo/mp3 player in there and have speakers wired up on the patio cover. There are shelves in there, so I keep napkins, plates, and my fry daddy. I really wanted to put a fride in it, but just couldnt cut it. The middle is for propane of course. The right cabinet is just big storage and also that is where i put the breaker box, power supply for the low voltage lights, and water access. I could have put a fridge on the left side, but that would wiped out my "clean" storage options. The bricks were leftovers from when they built my house. They stacked up a crap load of bricks in my garage, and they were just taking up space. My first idea was to toss them all in the lake when nobody was looking. Then I thought about making an outdoor pizza oven or smokehouse, but learned that they were not the right type bricks for that. So the outdoor kitchen was plan C. I did the brick work myself. It took forever, nothing like they show it in the books. I made a complete mess, re-did it a few times, but it finally came out OK. The slap is not level (for drainage), so it was really difficult for me to figure out how to build the whole thing and make the brick work look level against the not level slab. Not in my DNA, I am Polish. |

Nice setup. But, as a Detroiter, I'd only really be able to use it 7-8 months a year. Mark |

Well its been hovering around 100 degrees here the last few weeks. I am from OH originally, and wouldnt trade the blistering heat for a northern winter to save my life. |
