I like the 'Thunder Ranch' videos. Gabe works with Crafty Dog (Marc Denny) a lot and is extremely wise and is one of the few people who really understands combat use of the gun, including when to deploy and why and how. The important thing, as we all know is that skills are practiced frequently or they degrade, including timing, reaction time and 'muscle memory'. Not everyone has the time and the resources to be immersed in combat pistolcraft on a consistent basis. So just bear in mind that watching videos only has limited practical benefit. We know what it takes to 'functionalize' your BJJ training and learning a new submission. You may 'know it', but can you bring it under pressure? Same thing applies to the use of a handgun in a SD situation. You must find a way to functionalize it in a manner that 'works for you' under pressure, using footwork, timing and unpredictability (training 'alive'). Always be suspicious of your training in a complex milieu like this involving the use of 'deadly force'. What you learn in a structured training class may not transfer to IRL useage. |

Dude is solid. Also teaches the Saiga-12 in combat role, and transitions. |
