Professor Helio SONECA began training Brazilian Jiu-jitsu back in 1981 and was one of very few black belts under Carlos Gracie Jr. of the time. He was also a founding member of the Barra de Tijuca Jiu-jitsu School in Rio also known as Gracie Barra.
Soneca has walked off the mat a champion many times in his career with and without the Gi. He has also been coach to many professional fighters and teams such as Wanderlei Silva and Chute Box.
