And if so, what's a good book describing it? Thanks. |

as a nutritionist I have to say it's worth giving a try HOWEVER, it's better to do a process of elimination and see if there really is something you're sensative to i.e. grains for exmaple (it is however my belief that all modern wheat is terrible). <--layman terms of course hehe I am a vegetarian and I do fine on it. I also tend to consume more dietary fat and much less carbs then the "typical" diet. I find this a good reason for Paleo style diets. the best book I find was the Paleo Diet haha :D |

I have 3 different certifications I am also finishing up my last 6 classes and graduating as a Dietitian (RD as soon as I take and pass my NYS licensing test) I've all ready been working with athletes and in a clinical setting as part of my course work :) |

^^ Nice, I almost became an RD. I did my academic qualifications but not clinical placement.Wasn't for me. I wish now, I had stayed in the profession and gone more the research route - a route I was getting into initally. |

^^ It was too clinical based, that is, working with sick people for the most part. All internships were mostly clinical. I had zero interest in becoming a glorified nurse or working 40 hours a week for 10 months, without pay in a job i would not like. |

its a good diet imo, like many diets, it gets you off sugar, overly processed "non foods" (almost all junk food and food "products" like cheese whiz lol) and gets you to eat more natural real food. you'd be surprised if you never look at the ingredients in many foods. it encourages cooking yourself which automatically gets you a better diet. it also encourages organic/hormone/pesticide/chemical free, which is a good thing imo and im sure everyone else |

I recommend paleo to everyone... it helped me solve a number of health problems. Wheat is evil. |

Well, I guess I more meant trying it to everyone. And a lot of the elements of it are great for everyone. |

there are other concerns such as consuming specifically GRASS fed meat, if you're consuming "conventinoal" then you're not doing paleo. but yes sir :) |

James Funaro - its a good diet imo, like many diets, it gets you off sugar, overly processed "non foods" (almost all junk food and food "products" like cheese whiz lol) and gets you to eat more natural real food. Exactly! There are a lot of Paleo Diet detractors who fail to mention that simply cleaning up your diet (as Paleo does) helps considerably whether or not you buy into the entire culture. Drink more water Avoid prepackaged, prepared foods Eat more fruits and vegetables (preferably local, organic produce) Reduce carbohydrates (sugars) Reduce salt Exercise modestly How in the heck is that a bad message (unless you are a "food" processing company)? |

ArthurKnoqOut - "as a nutritionist"<br type="_moz" /> I have a few questions: Clinical or Research? Corporate, Hospital-based, private consulting (or both)? How well prepared are you for sports nutrition? Do you learn to prepare healthy, delicious foods (I assume not)? What are common, if any, dual degrees packed with R.D. programs (athletic training, kinesiology, sports management, etc.)? |
