I saw the thread titled "Rhadi: ATT's Conan coaching 'almost delusional'" and thought it warranted a response and thread of its own. Rhadi: I'll start this off by saying that we respect everyone's opinion regarding the sport and our team and fighters. I personally try to read this forum everyday, as do many of our coaches and fighters. There is a lot to be learned from taking the time to read the various viewpoints of knowledgeable people about the sport. We try not to get offended by criticism. We look at it as objectively as possible and try to correct things that need attention. If Conan, (or Liborio) thought they "knew it all", we wouldn't have a bjj coach, wrestling coach, multiple striking coaches, and a s& c coach on staff full time to work with our pro fighters. We, as a team, constantly strive to better ourselves. In that regard, Conan put an apology up on his Facebook page the day after Hector's fight saying he could have and should have done a better job. With that said, I am going to buck the trend a little and respond to your comments in more depth because at one time you trained at ATT and there is a little more to the story. I'm sure you read a lot of books and would expect nothing less from a Doctor. I also know you like to market yourself enormously so I will disregard the comments that focus on your knowledge and credentials and focus instead on your assessment of our coach. There's a lot going on behind the scenes leading up to a fight that influences the 20 second sound clip you hear between rounds. Sometimes what you hear may be indicative of a coaching error and sometimes you are only seeing one very small piece of a big puzzle that is impossible for an outsider to fully understand. Coaches, like fighters, often go back and review their performances, good and bad. I'm not going to defend or criticize Conan here as he has already spoken on the matter. But I will say that, since some of your infomercials come in the form of journalistic opinion, you probably should have disclosed that Conan asked you to stay away from the ATT gym over a year ago because some of the fighters/coaches didn't like the way you handled yourself and marketed yourself. I'm not going to debate whether those opinions were valid and I'm not saying your opinions are affected by what happened , I am, however, saying that I think it's fair to mention what happened in light of your comments. I probably should have just let your thread run its course and moved on, but sometimes you just can't help yourself. What can I say, I'm a UGer too. :)

When self-promotion goes bad. "And I'd be happy to have him as a client." What a tool

I can't help but feel you are smearing his name rather than responding to his particular criticism. Perhaps that is some kind of edge of integrity you have regarding his previous conduct. Ultimately - I actually don't care and think ATT are great and wish all well, bullshit politics aside. All the best. |

Maybe it was just a clever scheme by the good doctor to get his name in a story that included ATT and Greg Jackson so people will think they are all on the same level. I bet Greg read Little Red Riding Hood when he was a kid. Hey I read that book too!!!! Can I get in the article too?

Can the guy just not help himself? He seems like a nice guy, but how can he do this over and over in the face of such (seemingly) constant criticism of his shady methods? I don't get it... |

First off, anyone that refers to themselves as "Doctor" without ever attending medical school is a just a pompous, egotistical, narcissist. You dont need to own a piece of paper calling you a "Doctor," to see it's fairly obvious "Doctor" Ferguson has a personal beef with Conan over getting kicked out of ATT. If "Doctor" Ferguson was half the professional he claims to be he would never even have chose to bring a personal gripe to a public forum and expect to somehow spin it into a positive marketing ploy for himself. Its the kind of pathetic act you expect from a teenager, not a "37 year old Doctor/Olympian/Philanthropist/Scholar/Coach Extraordinaire." Everyone likes to play "Monday Morning Quarterback" and talk about the could've, should've's and would've' s of any sport. But MMA, is completely different from any other mainstream sport in the aspect that the "coach" or "coaches" aren't in there with you or controlling your every movement with a video game control. 9/10 times you cant hear or remember what the hell anyone is saying to you during a fight. Even in between rounds! Its not like baseball where the "manager" is in charge of calling the hit and run with 2 strikes and 1 out and a man on first to break up a double play or or the "head coach" of a football team that decides to run a running play on 3rd and long. So for the "Doctor" to be putting the blame all on Conan for Hectors loss is just a childish jab at someone he has a personal beef with. Where were all of your in depth coaching analysis of Conan while Hector was running through 25 people in a row for 6 years?... Oh thats right, you cant say shit when someone is winning. Wait til they are down to kick them, they are easier to reach. |

Anyone who earns a legitimate Doctoral degree has the right to be called Dr. That said, what type of Dr. Is Rhadi? PhD, JD, MD? How does his doctoral degree give him credibility in the Athletic world? Why did he stop training at ATT?

Who posts under the ATT screen name anyway? I always thought it was a publicist, but am now curious to know what representative it is. TTT for ATT. |

This dude is a joke, please take everything he says with a grain of salt. And he is no black belt, one of the worst guys I have ever rolled with at ATT. He tried 10 times to catch me in a BS wrist lock. I have seen everyone under the sun sub the poor guy. Just looking to put his name out there...

I think he said he has a PhD in kinesiology or some such. Clearly not a PhD in marketing. Certainly not in being a reasonable person. |
