If you've ever wanted to train at Renzo's with Renzo, John Danaher and Gianni Grippo you need to listen. If you own a clothing brand you need to listen. If you've ever competed or reffed you need to listen! The man behind MANTO and Head Ref for Grapplers Quest is our guest. Huge thanks to Alberto Marchetti for being on the show! |

AristidesBrito - I've heard great things about Alberto from a good friend who used to train with him He's a really amazing guy on and off the mat. Such a unique perspective on things. Can you imagine training at Renzo's when there were only 50 students? Then watching the academy explode to over 1200! We hope people enjoy the episode. Alberto might not be a household name but he should be! |

Renzo stories are always great! Hopefully one day we will have the man himself on the podcast.

Thanks for the support everyone! What are peoples thoughts on shifting the point system to a strict positional system like Alberto mentioned? |

Sounds interesting. I don't know if I agree with points for all reversals. If a guy is in mount and goes for an armbar, I escape and end up on top, do I get 2 points for a reversal? I feel that giving points for reversals will lead to more stalling from the top to avoid points scored. |

Alberto and I started training at Renzos the same week. Good to see him doing so well, he is a very talented artist too. |

Good interview. Good to hear from people involved so heavily in the bjj scene but not solely as competitor / instructor

JZilla - Good interview. Good to hear from people involved so heavily in the bjj scene but not solely as competitor / instructor If you own anything from Manto you can tell it's made by people that actually train. Really nice quality stuff. I think Alberto's background and degree from FIT makes a big difference too. Making a high quality line isn't as easy as having a decent design and calling up Pakistan for some quick turn around gear. |

H - Sounds interesting. I don't know if I agree with points for all reversals.I think Alberto wanted to provide incentive for the bottom guy to get out. I believe the incentive IS getting out. I believe GQ has a rule that you can drop for footlocks without giving up points, that incentives attacking. So maybe your example of armbar from mount being reversed and bottom guy getting points is just the opposite and would restrict attacking. Very good point.

I have just got round to listening to this. It's a really good episode and you get a good perspective across the sport from this single episode. Great work guys. He has a customer for life from me and I have never bought Manto before. I would now for sure :-) |

I can promise that we'll be introducing you to new people all the time. I really appreciate it when people check out our show even if they're not familiar with our guests. We only go after interesting people. Alberto definitely fits that description. A true renaissance man.
