A student found a video tape of this event from 2002 in NYC. Lot of well known fighters at the time, well known gyms and coaches... Here are a few of the fights

Good vids David. San shou's open format allowed for lots of personal expression. You might be a puncher, a kicker, a wrestler, a brawler, or a runner, but lots of different ways to win a match.

It's good to see these vids of the amateur level guys. Lots of people have seen a world sanshou highlight or a Cung Le highlight and not seen the majoroity or san shou fighters at the grass roots levels.

I thought San Shou matches were all fought on platforms 15 feet in the air, that is what a man named Sean Liu said when he was talking about his many san shou victories in China..
