The marketing and culture surrounding Apple is a bit annoying. Like a religion at times with some people.

Older lady here at the office has an iPhone and wholeheartedly believes that it is the single greatest invention of all time.

The other day she was having trouble with accessing the wireless network through her phone and was walking around complaining about the network being messed up. Despite the fact that not a single other person in the office was having any issue, she was still convinced the wireless network was not working, since her iPhone is obviously completely infallible.

Even after I used my laptop to show her that there is no issue with the network, I heard her talking to someone else saying "I wonder what's wrong with the internet here?"

My mom asked for an MP3 player with a dock for Christmas because she's been carrying around a Discman for the last 10 years and she likes to listen to music while cooking. Naturally this became a total nightmare because the new iPod Nano is incompatible with all old docking stations because they changed the connector. So basically my options were:

1) Spend $200 on an iPod Touch which has 100 features my mom would never use or give half a shit about.

2) Spend $150 on an iPod Nano and then $40 on a fucking adapter to get it to work with the dock.

3) Spend $80 on a Sony MP3 player and then around $3 on an auxiliary cable to hook it up to the dock.

Naturally I picked #3. Fuck Steve Jobs's corpse in its fucking earhole.

I was a gold level APP at the company and I'll say this:

Those products work extremely well together when you've got them across the board... in your house, car, office, etc.

If you don't have them everywhere... ehhh... they lose their appeal. The whole thing is, buy all Apple products and they'll all work perfectly together. But if you don't wanna spend 200+ on a decent-sized mp3 player and instead toss another brand in the mix... the Apple products lose the edge of making things easier with seamless integration.

My take on it, anyway.

I never get the Apple hate. They make an elegant looking product in a totally controlled ecosystem, which allows them to function better than most similar products.

Are they the greatest thing ever? No. That's entirely subjective. I don't get hating on them though. That'd be like a chocolate lover being all, "I can't stand fucking vanilla. WTF is it with them anyway? Acting all high and mighty with their pure white color and refined taste. Fucking world would be better off without vanilla."

We get it. You don't like Apple products. You don't need to buy them.

It's the culture behind the product and personally, a lot of apple uses are just daft when it comes to technology

It would be easier to share this viewpoint if so many Appleheads weren't so insistent that their products are inherently superior and that you're some sort of philistine if you don't love them. Seriously, using the power of marketing and brand identification, they've created a legion of sycophantic lunatics who think there's something wrong with you if you don't have an iPhone.

i dont hate apple bc i htink the quality is inferior...in fact apple products are very good quality, IMO

i jsut hate the fact that they are incompatible with non-apple stuff....and things like "airplay" have sever restrictions on what is allowed to be played on your TV

want to hook up your "older" apple lap top to your TV?....well you are shit out of luck...not even the USBs that the apple store carries will support that

and everyone always talks about how great apple is at integrating with other apple stuff....well then why does apple force you to buy a separate charger for each product? you'd think they would "integrate" a bit better and havea universal charger for their products....or at least include changeable adapters to fit each device

Brilliant strategy actually. But yes if you have ALL apple products it works so seamlessly its orgasmic. That said you will get trapped into needing to update all your shit. Apple TV? sorry get an Apple TV 2. Etc it's not really worth it when you need to update your technology every 6 months. And the problem is that it's never an easy/cheap update. And its usually for a feature that you should have had in the first fucking place.

All that said, if you can afford it, the shit kicks ass.
