I've flown in commercial aircraft 50 times, military aircraft a few times but never in something this small. Two seater Jabiru and I've got no idea what to expect Phone Post

Expect death. Jabiru's have the highest likelihood of a crash and lowest likelihood of crash survival for its occupants.

Just kidding, everyone who crashes in one dies.

Just kidding, I don't even know what a Jabiru is. Phone Post

I was kidding again, I do know what they are and they cause more deaths per year than Chlamydia and tetanus combined. Phone Post

Make sure you wear a helmet and whatever you do, dont sit in the right seat. There's a 100% chance of death for whoever sits in the right seat. It drops to a 78% chance of death if u sit in the left seat. But don't worry, these percentages are ONLY for when the plane is airborne. If you're just taxiing in the ground then you are most likely just gonna break bones. Phone Post

I'm not exactly how they do things in the fixed wing seat, but during flight training in a helicopter the student generally sits in the pilot in command seat (PIC seat).  In a helicopter, that's the right seat.  In a plane, it's the left seat.

Dont worry if you suck.  Everyone sucks when they are learning.  Just try to not get frustrated, as the skills will come eventually.  In fact, you will never finish learning, even after 10,000 hours.  Flight school can be really fun.  Are you doing your commercial license, or just a private/rec license?

Thanks for the advice.

The plan is to get a commercial licence, but I'll just see how I go initially before I decide which one I get. I might even drop nuts completely and never take another lesson........... Phone Post

Yeah, but not US. Australian Army, it's good that the US has stuff like that in place for their military, I don't think we have anything like the GI bill. I could be wrong because I know fuck all about any of that sort of stuff Phone Post

The flight was flawless but my insturctor was a friend of mine who was willing to let me do everything. TOwards the end I freaked a little when lining up for landing he had to take over and land. I just stick to FSX. I thought the lesson would help my fear but it did not

I'm not scared of flying, but for some reason I have this irrational feeling of nervousness right now......

An hour and a half before my flight and it's starting to really build to the point where I'm starting to feel nauseous. It's quite silly really but I'm committed to jumping in so I'll have to get over this feeling.

Yet I'll jump on a commercial flight every few weeks and not think twice. Weird Phone Post
